Try this on the XP machine.
Click on Printers and Faxes either in your Start Menu or the Control Panel.
In that window, click Add Printer
In the Add Printer Wizard, the first option you have is for a local or network printer, select network printer.
In the next window, select the "Connect to this printer" button and type in the IP address like this and click next.
\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
This should find your network printer.

I got one of these about a month ago since our printer is 2 rooms away from where our wireless network adapter is. You can also hook up any computer to it to give it wireless network ability. I got mine through tiger direct for about 30 bucks.
