Default Could we get Ian Johnson in the 5th?

    Running Back
HELPED: Ian Johnson/Boise State -- Johnson did not have a mind blowing workout at the combine yet was very solid and ranked in the top 10 of just about every category for the running backs. He came out a big winner as scouts no longer feel Johnson is simply a third down back or situational runner. Johnson, who measured 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds before timing at 4.45 in the 40 and completing 26 reps on the bench, is now being viewed as a potential feature runner. This alone will improve his draft stock almost a full round.

Come on guys, I think he is underrated. What do you think about picking him up?

never heard of him before. But i suppose we could do worse than a 5th rdr.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I would be for him. You can check out his speed score here http://www.footballoutsiders.com/sta...eed-score-2009

It's an interesting but not definitive way of looking at RB. They've got him third on that list, which means that he's probably better than people have been thinking.

He's the RB that proposed after a Bowl win to his girlfriend, who happened to the the head cheerleader.

My question about Johnson why he wasn't as featured his senior year as he was earlier he college career? I don't see Boise State play enough to say if he any good.

In that case forget him. Way to blow the curve you jerk. The last thing I want is to have to explain to my girlfriend why I'm not winning a bowl game as I propose to her. I'm also pretty sure that the response because you're no head cheerleader wouldn't be good.

After that, try explaining why you don't make millions of dollars playing in the NFL.

I'd be cool with Johnson. He has some breakaway speed that's pretty deceptive. I watched a couple BSU games this year and he is the type of runner Shanny woulda liked. He just hits the hole and goes. Plus, I'm pretty sure he likes running behind Clady.

    Here's some of his highlights:

Don't know if that's what McDaniels is looking for, but I'm sure they'll take a look at him.

kid has a lot of heart, but IMO he's probably not going to be any better than the other committe types of backs we've been going with the past few years. . . not a terrible pickup for the 5th round, but he's not a guy that i would expect to fix our problems at the position or be any kind of long term solution. . . if we're not going to take a back in the top three rounds, i'd like to see us target james davis if he makes it to the 4th. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Honestly, i would take some other backs before him who will be available in the later rounds.

Well if you are getting backs in the 5th+ round your not looking for solutions, your looking for complimentry backs and depth. Agree with you on his heart. IMO would not be a bad pick at all 5th or later. He branched out his senior year and did play on special teams (asked to) knowing that he might have to bring more to the table to stick in the NFL. Dude sure did find the endzone in college!

I think in the situation Denver is in Johnson might be the type of back they stay away from if they are looking for a lightning to say Hillis's thunder (SO James in the 4th works).
