With the defense in the state it's in right now a RB on the first day wouldn't be very smart imo. The offense is set now for a couple years and with the success of RBs when they come out of college in the 1st or 2nd rd. we can wait.

the offense isnt set right now, we have no starting Running back.... I think Mccoy and Hillis would be a top 5 tandem from the start though.

I think that it depends what happens with our nose tackle situation. If we haven't addressed that position by free agency or the first round then I then were looking to take a nose tackle in the second round.

SMITH’S STOCK TAKING A HIT FOR REASONS UNRELATED TO WORKOUT
Posted by Mike Florio on February 21, 2009, 9:25 p.m.

As if the bizarre departure of Alabama tackle Andre Smith from Indianapolis didn’t raise enough questions about his pro prospects, some of the things Smith did and said in Indy might have done even more damage.

According to Tony Pauline of SI.com, Smith had a bad round of interviews on Friday.

“Smith’s interviews with teams have been going horribly,” Pauline reports. “He’s been inappropriately dressed and has been giving a number of conflicting statements as to why he was choosing not to workout at the combine. Several offensive line coaches have already suggested Smith be removed from their team’s draft board and there’s no doubt his draft stock is falling.”

Though high-end tackles create a lower percentage of busts than positions like quarterback and receiver, few tackles have had such a bad experience at the Scouting Combine. As a result, anyone who recommends that the team use a high first-round pick on Smith needs to have a high degree of job security — or needs to be right.

man, this sucks! we'll see how it actually plays out on draft day, but if these high-rated offensive prospects do start dropping it sure doesn't help us out, sitting at #12 hoping to land a top defensive prospect. . . . ahh well, maybe if they fall far enough we can entice somebody to trade up for one of 'em if none of the guys we want are there. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

How did Stafford and Sanchez? Or have quarterbacks not worked out yet?

OL and TE's are the only ones who have worked out so far.

Well its only one player that is falling, A. Smith. Depending on how Oher performs he could slid up if J. Smith/Monroe or gone and say CIN or JAX is dead set on a tackle. Don't see Andrea dramatically chaning the top 10.

QB's and WR have been going through the paces today. Man to think I can just sit there with a note book and watch drills all morning, does that mean I have a problem? lol

considering we are not in them market for either a WR or QB yes you might say the it is deep into off season..

Other than trying to see what KC or OAK might get and how that might affect us..

or perhaps what QB we might take in the 6th round to be our backup QB next year it is time to let it go

Think in this manner at least you have gotten step one down for recovery admitted you have a problem..

ya Andre Smith and Brandon Pettigrew have lost a lot of money this weekend... Pettigrew was a legit top 20 pick as a TE before coming into this weekend, I think that 4.8 drops him completely out of the 1st round.

He wasn't viewed as a speedy TE, might take him out of the top 15, land him late 1st. Depending on what is available with Phiilys first pick if they grab a back or tackle with there 2nd first Pettigrew could be intersting for them if he is there.

Not really sure this is the place for it, but Stafford isn't participating in much this week, says he'll wait for the pro day, in March at Georgia.
