No way Crabtree isn't a Top 5 pick.
I don't have a problem with it, per se, I just don't think Crabtree is going to fall past 5...I really think the Seahawks will take him, actually. But jumble it up, after that, Raji would probably go to the Bengals and the OT would go to Oakland, whoever they deem as the top OT left. And we're still left with Maualuga, or any of the other top linebackers.
I'd be shocked if the Seahawks passed on Crabtree.
They have Cushing over ReyRey. I don't think so, regardless of what happens before April. Other than that, decent mock.
I'd still be surprised. Cushing doesnt have the natural talent Rey has. Maualuga's upside is much better than Cushing's and he doesnt have the history of nagging injuries.
I know 99% of mocks don't factor trading picks, but I think we will be strongly looking to trade down.
a scenario that coach mentioned a while back was philly potentially trading us both their 1sts to move up, and i think that if we do move back that could very well be what happens, for a couple of reasons. . . tra thomas and jon runyan are both free agents this year, and they're both getting older. . . philly has a proven history of spending their top picks on linemen-- in fact, they're so committed to building from the inside out that their drafts have been totally lopsided, and it's the main reason they just never seem to have any real quality skill position talent other than getting lucky with westbrook in the 3rd round. . .
also, philly has a history of moving very aggressively to get players they target-- just off the top of my head i believe they traded up for both shawn andrews and jerome mcdougal. . . i really suspect that their primary motivation for giving up last year's 1st was to stockpile chips for a run at a top OLT this year. . . they rarely draft high enough to get a true blue chip player at the position, and while they could have taken otah last year he's really more of a RT. . .
maybe they'll wait and see if one of the second tier guys falls to them at 21, but i really believe that they'll look to move up if there's a guy in range that they like. . . looks like the top prospects this year are andre smith, jason smith, eugene monroe and possibly michael oher, depending on who you ask-- if tackles go as quick as they did last year, philly may have to get higher than 21 if they want one of those guys. . . a lot will depend on whether teams like detroit, KC or san fran take QBs. . .
they actually have the points to get as high as 9 or maybe 8, depending on who's willing to move down-- i'd think we would have to throw in our 3rd to make it work, possibly even some other small consideration. . . obviously there are still too many factors to project accurately right now, but if philly lets both of their OTs walk i think there's a great chance they'll be looking to deal-- maybe even if they bring one of 'em back for a few years. . .
chaz, you ever hear anything more about that, or was that just your own speculation?
- John Elway“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
