If you're going to allow any type of political/religious sigs and avvys in the respective forums how are you going to handle the fights that arise? What I'm trying to say is that some people will push this to ridiculous levels and there are bound to be arguments.

If you're just going to continue threatening to close the forums due to problem you'd might as well do it now. If you think there won't be big problems created by this policy you're not near as sharp as I think you are.
First, as I said, we will try it for 90 days and see where we are at. We can always go back to where we are now, or move to positive only.

Second, I think you have a misunderstanding of how this will work. It will not be per forum, but instead no users will see the political/religious sigs unless they opt-in, and then they will see the political/religious sigs every where. The net result will be that the vast majority of people will choose 'not' to view political/religious sigs, and for those that complain, we can now say, opt out of viewing them, where it was not right to tell people to turn off all sigs/avvies, because 10-15 posters were displaying inflammatory sigs.

If it proves 'unwinnable' or worse than we are now, we can change back or to something else in 90 days.

As to patriotic images. If they are non-partisan, patriotic images of YOUR country, then more than likely they will be ok. We will take them on a case by case basis. You want a US flag or a non-political/partisan tribute to our troops, no problem. You want an image of President Obama, Pelosi, Clinton, McCain or someone else, it goes in the P&R sig.
