Default The Sporting News early mock..

Did anyone see TSN's early mock draft?

I don't have a link, I was just reading the magazine and wanted to talk about who they have us taking in the 1st and 2nd round.

At 12, they have us taking Aaron Curry - OLB, Wake Forest.
At 44, they have us taking Eric Wood - C Louisville

I wonder why they see us taking a C in the second? Laurinaitis, Jerry and Greene, along with a ton of other top prospects, were still on their board.. I can't see us taking a Center that high with so many other top guys at positions of need, still on the board..

    Your thoughts?

Asked at what point would it be in the best interest of the team to trade Cutler, McDaniels answered: "Never." Nice to see your a man of your word Josh

Not with Weigs staying with us I dont see us taking a C on day 1. I Would be stoked if Curry was there at #12, though.

well i think C is a big need, but if JL is there thats a no brainer.
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

A couple of their other picks I found interesting,

    They have,
    Sanchez going 1st overall,
    Stafford 3rd to the Chiefs
    Moreno 21st to the Eagles,
    Cushing 23erd to the Patriats
    Maualuga 29th to the Giants

Their first LB coming off the board is Curry at 12 to us, followed by Cushing and Maualuga...

I don't see it as much of a need. I mean, we just drafted one last year.

true. i feel like steiger will be able to take over at either C or LG and ben can fill the other spot for the forseeable future... but there's no reason to spend a 2nd on a C when our defense is in shambles.

Even beyond that, in the 2nd round?

C's don't normally go that high and when they do, they go to teams who desperately need one. We might have a question mark at the position but IMO there is no way it compares to all the other glaring holes we have...

I'm guessing that TSN's mock came out before Weg's statement that he will be coming back. If Curry falls to us at 12, we'd be adding an impact player on D immediately. Maualuga at 29? Hard to believe.

If Curry is gone, Maualuga will be gone at #12.

If we came away with Curry and Laurinaitis, or Curry and Jerry with our first 2 picks, I would be a happy man!

We could look for a Safety or 2 after that and just about anything else we did in the draft would be fine with me.

Well, If it were Curry and JL, I would expect to see a DT taken sometime after that...

I can't wait for the combine! I am glad the Superbowl is over. Now NFLN can get back to talk of the entire league, instead of just Pitt and Arizona..

Curry won't be there at #12. Laurinaitis isn't worth the #12 and will be gone by the time we pick in the second. IMO

Raji will be gone by #12 also. This leaves us with Rey. Rey would fill a huge need as a run stuffer and #12 is right about where he's projected to go.
    I'd be happy with him.

If Raji makes it down into the bottom half of the top ten I could live with trading up to get him.

I like Curry at 12 and we would be lucky to get him there. Wood man that would in my eyes be a horrible pick. I want a C but i feel there are other ways we need to go

I've been wondering why people are so high on getting us a center. Why do you want us to get one?
