Default Complete up-to-date list of Free Agents for 2009

Feast your eyes and start salivating: http://walterfootball.com/freeagents.php

Anybody see a good nose guard the Broncos could get without breaking the bank?

    I see Kenny Peterson's available.

Actually, I like the looks of Michael Boley and Karlos Dansby at LB, although
Dansby wouldn't come cheap. But Boley is coming off a down year and may be
    reasonable?

Gabe Watson would be my first choice at NT, depending on what kind of tender the Cardinals put on him. He's young, he's huge, and he has played well in both the 4-3 and 3-4 defensive formations. He's be worth giving up a 3rd round pick for.

Good to see you, Squints. And thank you for your service to our country.

I don't think the Broncos have as far to go to create a defense as some think.
A couple DLs who can pressure (maybe Moss to go with Dumervil this year
plus a FA?), a MLB, and a safety or two, and I believe they are there.

I really do like Boley. He had a down year, but put him in an exciting new
environment, and he just may blossom, which is what the Broncos need. And
    he may come relatively cheap.

I can't imagine the Cards letting him get away. They have the money. They're more likely to move Boldin than let go of Watson IMO.

A better bet for an RFA is probably Kedrick Golston from the Skins (he hasn't signed a contract yet right?) but we'd have to teach him the position, and throwing in that 3rd for the privilege hurts.

Grady Jackson could be a place-holder, but really heavy guys like that usually end their careers with a swan dive. On the right rotation, though, I wouldn't mind Grady while we try to fill other positions, or take a guy like Dorell Scott in the 3rd or 4th and see if we can add a little beef to that frame while he understudies behind Jackson for a year.

From what ive heard Boley has sort of regressed this year. But Dansby would look great in Orange and Blue.

He did, was benched toward the end of the season. But still had a monster year in 07 and his age is not a factor, interesting to see what kind of attention/contract he will be looking at.

I liked Boley coming out of Southern Miss when he was a Safety. Would be interesting to see how he rebounds.

I could live with him in Denver uniform, but like Top said he wont come cheap.

I still say our biggest need is a defensive tackle/nose tackle, whether or not we switch to a 3-4 we still need to get better in the middle of the defense.

I have Grady on my 2009 roster as a stop gap even if we get a day one NT. We all know how rookies pan out and even if he is at the end of his career, he should be a good one-year guy that can teach a rookie how to play NT.

damn. . . every frickin' time we talk about getting a veteran nose tackle, i am painfully reminded that both shaun rogers and kris jenkins were traded last year for mid-round picks. . . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Shaun Rogers was traded for a #2, wasn't he? Or was that Corey Williams?

Rogers was traded for a 3rd and CB Leigh Bodden. You're right about Williams, he was traded for a 2nd.
