He's actually being tossed around as a serious name in the hat.

    I wouldn't mind a McD/Orton "Sloppy seconds" reunion.

Supporting the Denver Broncos all the way from North Carolina!

If someone in the chiefs is seriously thinking of hiring Josh Mcdaniels then he needs to have his head examined. That would be great if they did hire him though...

It's quite possible. Pioli, Crennel and McDaniels all know each other from their New England days and have a good working relationship. I could see it happening two ways.

    1) Pioli convinces Crennel to stick with the DC job and hires McDaniels to be the head coach and run the offense, thus bypassing St. Louis' ability to block the interview.

    2) McDaniels is available and can be hired as the OC.

Option number two is of course contingent on McDaniels being fired in St. Louis. That is extremely unlikely unless Devaney decides to fire Spags and clear out the entire coaching staff as well. Even then, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Rams try to hold onto McDaniels.

I think you have way to high of an opinion of McDaniels. It would be surprising if the Rams pull a cluster ______ like that. Fire Spanuolo but hold on to McDaniels who looks like he couldn't coordinate his way out of a wet paper sack? That sounds absolutely stupid.

That's the rumor. It would be a horrible mistake imo but Pioli want to commit professional suicide then just stay out of the way.

It makes no difference what I think of McDaniels, only what the guys who do the hiring and firing think of him, and Devaney was falling all over himself to get Josh in there once Shurmur left for Cleveland, so I could easily see him trying to keep him there.

Yeah that's your take and it looks like it's a little overly generous to me. It looked to me that it was out of convenience.
