It gets so boring listening them play these "breakdowns" in each and every song. I totally hate that genre.

Of course there is one band who is involved with that scene, but I wouldn't consider them playing that genre. They are more technical death metal. They're called The Faceless. They're amazing musicians and it sucks that they have to play with those damn bands I mentioned every time they go out on tour.
Metal by Numbers, they all sound the same.

The only metal bands that I can stand are Five Finger Death Punch (though they're hard rock territory), Skindred (though there's nothing controversial about them) and a small dose of Static X every once in awhile.

I just heard an awesome track from Sunn O))) called Orakulum. This is a cool, dark song reminiscent of slipping endlessly into an eternal void of darkness and lost hope... or as I call it, Oakland circa '03-'08. I was taken aback by it at first, but once I closed my eyes and absorbed it in a mini-trance, I was hooked.

Yea, Sunn O))) are an interesting band to say the least. I know on one of their albums they had a guest singer from a Black Metal band do vocals for a song and he did it while laying in a coffin. Talk about nuts.

Hey Northman, do you listen to some sludge metal? Bands like Kylesa, Baroness, Mastodon, Pelican, etc. That's good stuff right there.
