    Default William Moore informaion/pic page

Willia Moore was rated as the preseason #1 Safety in this draft. He was likely surpassed by Mays, but Mays isn't coming out. Moore has fallen off of our radar a bit, but he may still be a possibility. He played banged up all year, but has shown enough in previous years to garner serious consideration. While I think #12 is way too early, he may be the best defenive option available if Brown, Raji and Mauluaga are all gone.

You mean, like being the leader of the worst defense in the Big 12?

Sorry, not sold on Moore. It would be a mistake to take him in the first, when there might be other safety help in the second or third.

That's a reason I don't like Hood as a DT. They have alot of "pro prospects" for being so friggin awful. Moore has shown he can be a playmaker though. I think the Safety value i clearly later on, but he is worth looking at.

If he slides, imo. But not at No. 12, and not even if we manage to trade down in the first.

    William Moore
    Height: 6-1 | Weight: 230 | 40-Time: 4.50

    Strengths:
Outstanding size with long arms...Muscular with great bulk...A great athlete...Tough and physical...A big hitter who strikes fear into the hearts of the opposition...Does a terrific job against the run...Has excellent range...Explosive with a burst to close...Decent hands and ball skills...Has shown the ability to make plays in coverage...Real versatile...Productive...Strong work ethic...A team leader and captain.

    Weaknesses:
Durability is a concern...Questionable instincts...Can be slow to read and react...Misses too many tackles...Too aggressive at times...Lacks fluid hips...Speed is merely average...Will struggle to match up with wideouts in man coverage...Needs to face the action...Lets emotions gets the best of him ... Might be more effective if he lost a little weight.

    Notes:
Was a two year starter for the Tigers...Began his college career as a cornerback...A 2nd Team All-American in 2007...Previously wore #21...Missed three games with a hamstring injury in 2005 and later required offseason surgery to place a screw in his broken foot...Underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his shoulder following the 2007 season...Was hindered by foot and rib injuries for most of his senior season...Was kept near the line a lot in 2008 and that was a big reason for the drop in his interception totals...Hybrid who has been used in a variety of different roles and has the ability to operate like a free safety, strong safety or corner...Impressive physical specimen who looked like a future Top 10 overall pick at one point...Stock dropped a bit as a senior but he still has a lot of potential.

Sometimes it just does not all translate to a great defense at times, I think Hood is very interesting as a 3rd down/ nickle DT. Alot of talk now is how you are going to have to start looking at defensive players differently because defenses in some conferences ie. BIg 12 are going to be built smaller and faster to try and keep up with the offenses.

I agree that #12 could be a bit high depending on what is available.

Regardless of the positives, they've just listed EVERY reason to NOT draft a safety

I like Moore, but you’re not wrong. For him, though, most of those problems stem from health. When healthy he is fast, he’s in better shape (or was last year), and he’s not as tentative so he reacts faster.

He reminds me of Mike Brown. Great safety, if you can ever get him on the field. I didn’t feel that way about Moore til this year. Safeties are gonna get injured, and his junior year was awesome to watch. But then he got hurt again this year and slowed down and wasn’t nearly the force he was last year.

With our health problems it’s hard for me to advocate taking Moore early. We don’t need another guy pulling a hamstring every other week. Depending on when he was selected I could still be very happy with Moore, because he CAN kill it when he’s able, but with the 12th pick I’d have quibbles.

I found some feedback on Moore on how he is looking so far in practice at the Senior Bowl.

William Moore/S/Missouri: Moore has been labeled as a run defending safety with poor coverage skills and did nothing to shake that reputation on Monday. He struggled moving laterally and at one point was left lying on the ground after attempting to cover a receiver from the North squad.
