Default Thnikka's "ACTUAL fact of the day" thread.

In this thread Thnikka will enlighten us with facts that are actually true.

Because my facts are not factual enough for him.

I know it's a fact that Tinker can't eat nachos without getting cheese on his shirt.

I was doing some research, and that is a common trait of assburgers syndrome.

Wikipedia is not a reliable source of information due to the fact that it is editable by everyone. However it can be used as a starting point for research. Just don't use it as a reference.

This is not true. Wikipedia does fact checking on new information posted for accuracy. If accuracy cannot be verified they post a disclaimer on the top of the page. All of their resources are cited. Common misconception.

That is why I said to use the referenced articles by wikipedia, not wikipedia itself. In the post by Sneakers that started this whole thing, he said (and I'm paraphrasing) '90% of the cells in the body are bacteria'. Going to the wikipedia article that he got this "fact" from, and looking at the source of this fact, it states that 90% of the cells in the body are microbes. Bacteria are microbes, but not all microbes are bacteria.

And you can see the [citaiton needed] tags if there is a bold claim out there. Yes I'm being a bit anal retentive with this, but its all in giving Sneakers a hard time.
