OK, I must admit I know nearly nothing about Free Agency. Try as I might this morning, I can't find the answer to my question...
So, we've "waived" Orton - which I understand starts a 24 hour clock. During this 24 hours, teams (in some order) have the right to pick up the rest of Orton's contract (which is just for the end of the year, about $3mil left).
I guess I have two questions:
1) In the unlikely event he gets picked up in the 24 hour window - are the broncos responsible for any shortfall of that $3Mil
2) In the far more likely event that some team waits the 24 hours and signs a contract with Orton, are we on the hook - for anything? Meaning, if no one picks him up (also unlikely) do we have to pay the $3 Mil, or are we free of that debt because the contact is ended?
Thanks for any response.
