Default WR/TE Catching: When "Should" they?

So I was discussing the football last night (Pac10-12-72 whatever, college ball) with a few guys and once we got to talking about QB completion rate we had some very different opinions on when we think a WR "should" have caught the ball.

My personal opinion is that if the ball hits the recivers hands, and the receiver is not laying out for it, the receiver should bring it in.

One of my friends thinks pretty much the same, but adds the requirement that the receiver doesn't have to adjust his route due to the throw or DB pressure.

Just curious as to what you guys think.

Ahhh Why did you delete the thread. I had a response typed out and now its all gone.

Short version cuz im lazier now:

If you can touch it you can catch it!
Routes has nothing to do with it, QB could be throwing you open or putting it in a spot where it wont get picked if you do not catch it.

No excuse for not catching a ball regardless of anything if you can touch it.

Just ask Jonathan Baldwin about that (cheifs game against dawkins last sunday)
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

Sorry! I realized it wasn't bronco's specifc so figured it was in the wrong section. I was going to ask a mod to move it, but then figured it'd be a bit rude to ask a volunteer ( I assume) mod to do extra work because I wasn't thinking!

It has always been my understanding that if you can get 1 hand on it you can get 2. If you get 2 hands on it you should come down with it. That is the mantra in high-school, don't know why you would expect less from people getting paid 6 figures to catch a ball

I have always said if you can get a hand on it you should be able to catch, more then finger tips.

So the fact the other guy is also getting paid the big bucks to keep them from catching the ball matters not?

    Interesting.......

Growing up, my brother beat me if a pass touched my hands and I didn't catch it.

if the CB knocked it out it would be a defensed pass, not a drop

I'm not sure what you're arguing here. Are you trying to say that there isn't a difference between passes dropped and passes defended? Or that passes dropped don't count because a DB is in the area? I'm lost.
