Default Source: Matt Schaub out for year

Definitely terrible news for Kubs - they were playing very well this year. Appears it is now Leinart for them.

Houston Texans quarterback Matt Schaub will miss the rest of the season with a Lisfranc injury, a league source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

Coach Gary Kubiak said earlier Monday that Schaub was out indefinitely after injuring his foot on a quarterback sneak during Houston's 37-9 win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.

Oh man, that sucks. They were playing well too. Maybe Leinart can keep them afloat but who knows.

The fact that Leinart is now their starting QB is defiantly bad news. However, the Texans have shown over the past season and a half that they have the ability to be a run 1st team when they need to be with Arian Foster leading the way. With Jacksonville, Carolina & Indianapolis still on their schedule, they should still be able to get to 10 wins. Cincinnati & Tennessee should also be winnable games.

Sort of reminds me of that white rapper a few years ago that did a rap about the Colts winning the SB only to watch them never make it.

well the goal there was to make the playoffs and if they can win 3 more games that looks likely to happen.

Roethlisberger leaves Houston with a boot on his foot and doesn't even miss a week. Schaub leaves Tampa with a boot and he's done for the season.

    Life's not fair.
I miss the old Mile High Stadium.

Yeah, can someone please tell me how a team that's never made the playoffs and has been missing its two best players all year is 5th in scoring, 2nd in points allowed and a game and a half up in their Division? They're supposed to get Johnson back after the bye--now Schaub's gone. Since I have little faith in Schaub that would bother me less if they had more than Leinart to go in his place. With a remaining schedule like this:

    Nov 27 HOU @ JAC
    Dec 04 ATL @ HOU
    Dec 11 HOU @ CIN
    Dec 18 CAR @ HOU
    Dec 22 HOU @ IND
    Jan 01 TEN @ HOU

It is hard to imagine them not stringing together at least three more wins. Cincy and Carolina should be a cake walk and apparently most college teams can beat Indy without Manning. That alone should lock up the Division; if Houston wins three games the Titans can't lose more than once and still catch them (or even one if it's the rematch with Houston, who destroyed them 41-7 a few weeks ago.) The closest other team is the Jags, whose record is essentially the opposite of Houstons (so that's probably another Texans win; seriously, their remaining schedule is utter garbage; the .500 Titans and Falcons are the only winning teams on it.)

But with Mario Williams gone and Matt Leinart under center it's equally hard to imagine their first playoff game being even as close as the losses to Oakland, New Orleans and Baltimore (the first two were close, but still losses, meaning the only time Houston's beaten a playoff team this year is when they won by a TD against a Steelers team as beat up as they are.) It REALLY sucks, 'cos with Bum Phillips' son doing for their D what Fox has done for ours while Dennison's running the offense and Kubes the team, this years Texans are making the teams strongest challenge ever to Denvers place as my favorite team. Hopefully the long awaited first playoff appearance combined with the knowledge Kubes can't control injuries will buy him and Phillips another year or two to make the Texans a truly formidable team, because, while Wade is clearly no head coach, he has brought Houston PRECISELY what they needed to be a Super Bowl team--next year. Maybe.

This year... anything's possible in the second season, but I just don't see how in this case. Too bad.
Oh, valid point. I thought you meant all starters, you should take the time to be more descriptive, don't be shy. Jaded

I believe that Matt Leinart's biggest problem here in AZ was that he believed his own propaganda about how great he was and how success would come so easy to him in the NFL. If he hasn't figured out how wrong he was by now, then he never will. If Leinart can put on a decent performance, then I really do believe that the Texans can still take down the Jags, Panthers & Colts.
