Thread: Gerald McCoy, DT - Oklahoma -- NC Bowl Talk.

Default Gerald McCoy, DT - Oklahoma -- NC Bowl Talk.

Just thought I'd bring this up again. There is a reason why I think he is the best player overall in this NFL Draft. Not only the interception, but on the last series where he almost sacked Tebow in the backfield and then ended up coming back off the ground to finish him off on his scramble are evidence enough of the hard work and talent this kid has. Not to mention, the constant double and triple teams he has been drawing all night, and he has broken through them. Get this kid.

As long as he declares obviously. He's a (RS) Sophomore. Maybe if OU wins, he won't feel the need to go back.

I like him a lot also. Being an OU DT he is naturally compared to Tommie Harris, and he measures up favorably by most accounts.

I would probably take him over Mays. :shocker:

Depends on what our new scheme is defensively...he seems like a tweener if you put him in the 3-4, but a solid 4-3 D-tackle. I don't know a whole lot about him, but I've liked what I've seen so far tonight, and he's made plays all season.

I'm definately a McCoy fan and he owned the first half of tonight's game.

Yep, Missouri. I should have put the disclaimer. If we do go to a 3-4, then I'm not sure he is our guy. He's a perfect 4-3 DT mold, but OU had a few 3-4 looks tonight where he played NT and did very well. I love this kid.

I would imagine he's the same player that Marcus Thomas was coming out...just without the personal issues.

As far as talent goes, I think he is much, much better than Thomas. I think Thomas could still be a great player for us, he just hasn't been used well. IMHO. Gonna go watch the game though and type up some thoughts.

After seeing some highlights from the game again, it looks like McCoy lined up at all positions in the 3-4 looks that OU did give Florida. Scheme versatility, chalk that up too.

Oh, and according to Scott Wright there is a good chance he'll bolt -- or maybe that was the Hardy kid (DE) from Ole Miss. Lemme ask him.
