    Default Wish List Mock

The following is how I would like to see Denver's 2009 draft play out. Since we now have the #12 overall and looks like an additional 5th from Atlanta in the Foxxy trade, we have some bargaining chips to move around. As previously stated, I really hope we can trade back in round 1 and get an additional late first or early 2nd round pick for our #12. One potential trade partner could be Detroit who has #20 and #33. I don't care how it gets done, it's my ideal scenario. Assuming we can make such a deal, it may take a mid round pick to finish off, so I will delete the Foxxy pick to "even things out". Feel free to tear it apart.

EDIT---clearly some changes have been made, but w/ recent decisions by McCoy and Shipley, the current mock is based on value as well as tam needs.

    ROUND 1

    LeSean McCoy, RB, Pitt

COMPLETE homer pick, but I love this kid. Highly recruited out of Bishop McDevitt in Harrisburg, PA, I know this kid first hand. Likely a reach at #12, and heck, he may even grade in early round 2, but for now I like him in a trade back for a mid/late round 1 scenario. McCoy is an all arund running back. Good hands, speed, vision and elusiveness. He's no Bettis type, but can run anywhere. He's been the entire Pit offense for 2 years. Everyone knew he was geting the ball and still couldn't stop him from breakng Tony Dorsett's marks. Real deal.

He replaces my Cushing selection and an OLB will still be in the cards...just not in round 1 anymore.

ACQUIRED PICK (Late 1st or Early 2nd)

    Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
    6'5" 292

Tyson Jackson is exactly what our defense has been lacking. A LARGE, athletic DE who can get to the QB prettyw ell for a guy his size. He's no sack master, but will bring instant support to our DTs and LBs. That, and he can move inside to DT on passing downs. After seeing how the Giants ran their DLine, it'd be nice to have a versatile player who can move around and stil create havoc. I think his presence would give Elvis a much needed breather and we'd be able to set em loose on 3rd down and long.

    ROUND 2

    Patrick Chung, S, Oregon
    6'0"" 210

Sorry to all of you Shonn Greene fan, but McCoy is my guy. And w/ all the youngsters declaring, Chung may ver well be there for us in round 2. There is a lot to like a bout Chung. Heavy hitter and tackles well in space. He does not have superior speed, but has enough to play in the NFL...especially if he's gonna be a run topper. I'd like to see what Woodyard and Barrett could do together in the secondary, but Chung would be too good to pass on here. He and Barrett could be a nice young tandem that would allow Wes to stay at LB.

    ROUND 3

    Kyle Moore, DE, USC
    6'6" 270

Another big body for the DLine. Moore isn't the run stuffer that Tyson Jackson is, but he has great athleticism and can get to the QB. Again, his size adds flexibility to the DLine as a whole. In addition, I am a big believer that winning breeds winning. Although there are often players who succeed from smaller or less successful programs, I like guys w/ a pedigree. USC breeds playmakers.

    ROUND 4

    Worell Williams, MLB, Cal
    6'0" 250

Probably avoided it too long, but we need at least 1 LB here. Since I hate all of the OLBs outside of day 1 (prett lightweight class), I guess we'll go in the middle. I do like Larsen, but Worrell Wiliams could definitely push him for a starting gig as it currently appears. Being DJ's "little" brother doesn't hurt either. A bit short for a MLB, but he is a pretty solid player anh has the girth we haven't had in while. Doesn't have DJs athletic gifts, but he's still a nice pick here. LB would have to be handled via FA unless Boss comes back strong...and actually learns how to play good football.

    ROUND 5 (2 picks)

    Quan Cosby, WR, Texas
    5'11" 205

WELL...Change of plans. SinceShipley is goin back to school, I guess I'll have to settle for his partner in crime. The rest remains the same w/ the exception of his FANTASTIC performance in the Fiesta Bowl. That may raise his stock a bit, but I still think he may be attainable here. Marshall and Royal are the future at WR in Denver...but we still need some youthful depth. Although still a solid 3rd option, Stokley has been slipping a bit w/ the dropped passes and isn't getting any younger.

    Myron Pryor, DT, Kentucky
    6'1" 300

I know. I know. Most here think our DTs suck. I personally would like to see what they do under better coaching. Thomas and Robertson played well in goalline and short yardage situations, which tells be they can be successful. I believe that our light DEs and awful run support from LB and Safety spots played a big part in their poor reputation. I also think that we do still need some young talent infused at the DT position. Pryor has been a playmaker at Kentucky. He may be long gone by the 5th round, but there are a lot of highly touted DTs not named Myron. I really think he is being overlooked.

    ROUND 6

    A.Q. Shipley, C, Penn State
    6'1" 297

Since Nalen has retired and our current Center is on the wrong side of 35, this position is a definite need. I know we have the kid from BGU, but he would still need a backup or used as depth at OG. AQ has a nasty streak that this OLine could use. He held down the middle of the PSU line for 4 years and rarely had a bad game. Another late round OLine gem for the Broncos.

    ROUND 7

    Demonte Bolden, DT, Tennessee
    6'5" 290

Homer pick here, I admit. This late in the draft, I go w/ familiarity and I am fnmiliar w/ Bolden. He's been a bit of an underachiever/late bloomer, but is very talented. If this can be tapped into, we have a gem.

    Brian Cushing, OLB, USC

Not a horrible pick, but with Rey or Taylor on the board why settle for less?

    Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU

On the Fence with Tyson. Dont really like him but i know the Ravens are looking at him so could be good for the taking.

    James Davis, RB, Clemson

    Love the pick. No question.

    Kyle Moore, DE, USC

Dont know much about him but considering how good USC's defense was this year might be a good pick there. I would prefer him over Jackson and use the second pick for something else.

    Anthony Parker, OG, Tennessee

I think our line is fine for the time being but i dont know much about this cat.

    Jordan Shipley, WR, Texas

Meh, not my first choice for WR depth so Pass.

    Myron Pryor, DT, Kentucky

Big body, hole plug. Hopefully can get someone like him later on.

    Stanley Arnoux, MLB, Wake Forest

Nah, definitely pass. Serious reach here. If we are to take another LB then use the second or third rounder to get the boy from TCU instead.

    Demonte Bolden, DT, Tennessee

Like this pick better than the boy from Kentucky.

All good. My other MLB pick is Mauga of Nevada. Just not sure he'd be there at that point.

So in total, 4 new DLinemen and 2 new LBs for what should be a severely revamped defense.

And for the record, if we stand pat at #12 my wish list would alter a bit:

    1-Rey Maulauga, MLB, USC
    2-Davis/Greene
    3-Moore
    4-Parker
5-Shipley, Pryor and Anthony Felder, OLB, Cal
    6-Clint McDonald, DE, Memphis
    7-Bolden
