And the way i look at it, as long as he isnt a criminal element currently and plays at a high level that is what is most important to this team. Im not saying he will be cut loose, it was a shot in the dark to see where people were at. But if your biggest reason for not bringing him in is because of a incident 9 years ago i guess we better do some background checks and cut Brandon loose as well. Past history is just that, history.
Pretty much. If people like atwater want to throw out accusations and flame on the character of people like Ray Lewis, he can't speak with a forked tongue and excuse Marshall for everything he has done. I believe Marshall will keep clean in the off season and there won't be any more issues with him; just like there have been no other issues with Ray Lewis. If staying away from "that" crowd for nine years and proving for nine years that he isn't a character liability (a la Dale Carter, Clarrett, Walker, Lelie, etc), then I see absolutely no problem with bringing a Ray Lewis to Denver.

Of course, at this point it's all speculation, but to think about Ray Lewis playing for Denver, even if it's just for the last two or three years of his career, makes me happy.

I have said from the get go that Ray (at the right price) is exactly what the defense needs. He is a veteran that can teach passion and technique to a horrible defense.

Name one time I have defended Brandon Marshall. Actually, I am one of the few guys on this board who wants to trade Marshall away for a combination of his character flaws and his butterfingery drops and fumbles.

So take your forked tongue and clean yourself with it.

Character issues or not, we don't need him. We need a young, hungry MLB with fresh legs and shoulders that we can continue to build a team around, a nucleus of our defense for years to come. Not some old timer with played out cliche' pep talk and quotes from 'gladiator' at his halftime speech.
Why you choose to take this so personally I have no idea.

At first I thought, "what an awful idea." But with there being minimal leadership and a lot of young guys, maybe it wouldnt be SO bad.

Oh there would be nothing bad about it (although I do respect those opnions who add the morality issue to the equation), but the question is; how much good would it do?

    Lead by example? sure.

    Bring intensity? yep

    Fix the D? umm...i dunno

Still be there when the team is ready to ascend? not so sure

If he watched one down of Bronco football this year, he wouldn't come. We'd need 11 Ray Lewis's to fix that mess.

well, no doubt he would bring a real killer instinct to our D. . . .

but i'll pass. . . yea, he's still playing close to the level he was at in his prime, but how much longer can that last? i'm not especially fond of the idea of paying him big bucks for performance that declines every year as his salary grows. . . and anyone that thinks he'll sign on the cheap hasn't payed much attention to the way the guy incessantly chirps about his contract-- he's ALWAYS campaigning for a new deal, and make no mistake, he has his eyes on one last very big payday. . .

besides which, he's the type of 'backer whose performance relies pretty heavily on the play of the line in front of him. . . and before anyone says it, i'm well aware that every LB depends on his linemen, but some guys sift through trash well and are effective at fighting off blocks, and therefore are LESS reliant on the guys in front of 'em. . . lewis looked to be in serious decline before they drafted ngata (and remember who publicly demanded that they improve the line? the guy is an enormous benefit in terms of locker room and on-field leadership, but he also has a gigantic sense of entitlement and can be a royal pain in the ass for management, as he thinks he deserves a say in every decision including free agency and the draft)-- and we don't exactly have any top notch DLs to keep him clean. . .

for the type of money he's all but assured to want, i'd rather bring in a lower-profile defender who's still in his physical prime, and draft a middle linebacker from what looks to be a fairly solid class. . . give me somebody like jovan haye, bryant mcfadden or jermaine phillips with that money rather than lewis. . .

of course, this discussion is entirely moot anyways, IMO. . . i see very little chance that he leaves b-more, and if there are rumors saying he will he most likely started them himself to increase his leverage in negotiations. . . i agree with slick, i HIGHLY doubt he wants to come here and play nanny for our pathetic bunch of scrubs, and go out on a weak-ass unit after being on a dominant one his entire career. . . bisciotti has already said he'd consider using the franchise tag, or that he would outbid anyone else-- i'm betting they reach a long-term deal with either lewis or suggs, and franchise the other. . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I'm a big fan of the play, leadership, and fire that Ray Lewis brngs to his team. He could help any defense. After looking at the MLB's coming out in this draft though, I'd rather pick up a rookie that may be a franchise backer for a third of the price that Ray will demand.

I think Ray would be a nice guy to have in the development of other players, especially the linebackers. I think WWIII could learn a few things, and if we pick up a few guys in the draft -- it'd be good for them to learn too. I don't want the rookies to take a backburner, but ya know. I guess it'll all depend on who we hire as a coach.

I am salivating at the defensive talent in this draft now. It is just crazy. There is a good chance several first-round players at DT/LB/S/DE will be at our second round pick. I mean, highly touted guys too. It is just UNREAL.

After watching USC again...I want one of their two studs. I don't care which one, but I really want one of them...

Maualaga or Mays, just give me one of them.

Hell, honestly, I wouldn't mind us drafting about six of their guys.
How about Cushing in the second and Moala in the third and Matthews in the fourth.

    And I'm dead serious.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

I just dont want to see his mrduring ass walk around sticking his tongue out like an idiot. I hate that guy. But as a player he would be alright short term.

I'd take every one of those players you mentioned from USC. They're a good group -- but there are a ton of quality prospects from other schools. When Clint Sintim is getting a mid-B range grade at LB when he would have went in the first-round last year, you know that shit is ballin'.

That 33 year old broke Rashard Mendanhall's shoulder with a bone crushing tackle. I think he still has 2-3 years of elite play in him. He has gotten a little puggy lately but that can be fixed.

BTW, who says Ray killed anyone? From what I read, Ray tried to intervene but was unable and got caught up in the mix and was pointed out because of his NFL status. At least that was what I read.

O yea, this was after Ray Lewis and the Ravens said that they were gonna specifically introduce Mendanhall to the NFL. There were even reports of a bounty on Mendanhall for that game due to Hines Ward's alleged dirty hits which I think are not dirty at all. It's football.

Word got out to the Ravens D that Mendenhall texted one of his friends who is a Raven rookie. He told him that he was going to have a big stat day. Ray Lewis promptly came out the first time he tried to run up the middle and hit him so hard that he broke his shoulder. I believe Mendenhall's final stat line was 9 carries for 33 yards and a trip to the IR.
