Go easy, he's a Bengals fan. Intellect can be lacking there.
*The statements above are my opinions, unless they are links, because then they are links, which wouldn't make them my opinions, and I suppose stats aren't necessarily opinion, but they are certainly presented to support an opinion. Proceed accordingly.

Damn MB... That's cold, you heartless S.O.B. he may be a Bengals fan, but at least he is intelligent enough to not be happy about it anymore.

    Congratulations!

Getting published is a glorious thing.

Or so they tell me. It's always nice to see your name attached to something that people took the time to print and shove into other people's hands.

I've written a few books now but the only person doing the printing and shoving is me, so they don't count.

Congrats again. First of many, hopefully.

You are right, I think my ass could have done better. My ass has talent, but it just doesn't have the writing ability that my forearm or ballsack possesses.

But, my heart has more heart than all of them.

Here is the article, please give me your opinions. As an aspiring sportswriter I want to have readable material that people enjoy. Any comments are appreciated.

The Loggers baseball program has historically been very strong and successful. Two National Championship teams in 1994 and 2000, along with the two NJCAA National Tournament teams in 1993 and 1995 show that the program is used to doing well and that winning is expected.

This year’s team is no different than those past teams in that they have high expectations and capable players. Teams that succeed have leaders. Ron Riggle, the head coach believes that this team has that leadership.

“Last season we played a lot of freshmen. A lot of those guys are back and we have plenty of returning and experience and leadership.”

Coach Riggle was quick to point out how much it takes for a team to be successful.

“It’s hard to compare this team to our national championship teams. This year our team has the experience returning that we need. We have team unity, but it does take some luck. We play in a very competitive division.”

Riggle is looking at two players in particular to help the team with their production on the field, and their leadership off the field in shortstop Brennan Malham and center fielder Jason Rounde. Malham batted .331 last season and Rounde batted .333. Both players hit well above the golden standard of .300 for their sport.

“They both had good years and I am confident in their abilities to help this team,” said Riggle.

The experience may be important, but it isn’t the only thing that the Loggers have going for them. The new group of players seems to be a strong addition for the squad. “I’m confident in our new group of players,” said Coach Riggle. “The new group of guys will provide the team with depth. The freshmen will help right away.”

Being a head coach is more involved than managing and coaching the 26 roster spots on the team. In his 19th year as a coach for the Loggers, and his 7th year as the head coach, Riggle’s responsibilities to his team extend far beyond helping them become a good team and better baseball players.

“As the head coach I have the ultimate responsibility to this team. I am in charge of recruitment, raising funds for the team, scheduling games, and scheduling the officiating crews.”

The fall season has recently ended. Practice for the new season will begin in January; games will begin in early March. With the talent and leadership of this team, a strong season is quite possible. However, in order for this to happen to happen the team has to stay focused.
“My basic philosophy on coaching is the fundamentals of the game, the little things,” said Riggle.
    Interesting.

First of all... nice hard news story. Classic quote-transition combo. Gotta love it.

Second of all, the bolded phrases, "Riggle said"... what's your college newspaper's guidebook say about that? My lowly high school publication was barred from saying "said person" in an article, something about it not being grammatically correct.

I am glad that it did not bore you to tears.

I tried to keep it simple. I don't have too much faith in my ability to break out any flashy writing yet.

I was taught that the way I did it was correct. I believe in the Associated Press handbook it states that one can do so. I will make a note to look that one up.

Shit, if you can't let criticism role off your shoulder in this business, you better find something else to do.

You dream too much if you think you're better than me... You so far below me I couldn't kick your ass with stilts, I'm in the clouds, you're in the trees.

I'm in the trees on a planet high high above.

I can't even see you down there. You are the Mike Brown of Bengal fans. Plus a little Joe from Flo.
