Default Chiefs Eric Berry out for the year

The Kansas City Chiefs were counting on second-year safety Eric Berry to be a top-flight playmaker on defense, but those hopes will have to wait till next season. According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, Berry has a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the year.

Berry injured his knee early on during Sunday's 41-7 loss against Buffalo. He had to be helped off the field and he did not return.

La Canfora reports Berry was hurt on a block the Chiefs felt was illegal and worthy of league discipline.

    That's damn near crippling.

Damn, that hurts my wife's fantasy team. Too bad, he is one of the few bright spots on the Chiefs.

I want to see this block, maybe they will have it on the ESPN pre-game stuff tonight so we can see if there is something to it or if it is just Haley crying again.

I don't think it's illegal, but on a play like that he probably didn't need to cut him. Kind of like Gallery cutting Bunkley in the preseason game. Not illegal, but it could have been done in another way without injuring a player.

Not illegal, but definitely some dirt to that play.

Eric Berry fell for the okiedoke.

The guy could have hit him harder and still rung his bell, but it's not illegal. When I think of a dirty play, I think of a player who obviously has bad intentions looking to hurt someone.

I THINK the guy was trying to put a beating on Berry, I don't think he was trying to end his year or career.

It looks similar to George Foster's dive on Tony Williams which kind of ended his career. Except Foster was about 150 lbs heavier. Still, not a pretty play.

Yes. He may have gone for his legs as he was a little out of position to get his body.

In the Cowboy-Jets game, Plaxico Burress almost decapitated Jenkins with a blind side block. Not illegal either and I don't think he was trying to hurt Jenkins, but he did.
