Umm...as bad as the Raidres are, they still know ya need to play the better players. Apparently Huff isn't one of those. As good as he was in college, he's looking like a bust right now. He may be better than what we have now, but to assume this guy would fix our secondary alongside a rookie that has played all of 1 game makes little to no sense.

The Raiders can't evaluate or produce talent either. In a different situation Huff would have lived up to potential imo.

I think their young LBs are developing quite nicely.

that's only if they release him during the season, in which case the player does go on waivers-- if they release him at any time during the offseason, he becomes a free agent and can sign wherever he likes. . .

i'm curious as to whether he might not be better suited at corner-- he did post a time in the high 4.3's in the 40 at the combine, and is pretty athletic for a safety. . . there was some discussion about him switching to corner at the time, but nothing came of it. . . i initially thought he'd be best suited as a centerfielder-type free safety, but as i understand it poor tackling has been one of his primary faults as a pro-- IF he can cover, it's not as glaring a weakness in, say, a nickel corner as it is a starting safety. . .

of course, it's also possible that he just doesn't have what it takes to succeed at this level-- he sure wouldn't be the first UT star in recent years to look great on paper and in shorts and a t-shirt, but end up flaming out when the pads are on. . .

still. . . the fade hasn't had much success developing DBs in recent years. . . scweigert busted, and rhoutt has been average at best. . . it's true that asomugha has turned into a demon, but he was on the verge of being labelled a bust his first few years. . . they ran both philip buchanon and fabian washington out of town in disgrace after a few brief flashes early on, and both are now starting and thriving on two of the league's top defenses. . . if they do happen to cut huff, i'd certainly be willing to bring him in at the right price and see if he has the right mental tools to make something of his considerable physical gifts in a less putrid environment. . .

and in the meantime, i'm going to sit back and laaaugh when i realize that the fade could have taken jay cutler instead of huff, meaning that they'd currently have cuts throwing to calvin johnson. . . thanks al!

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
