king, this is like watching your good friends go through a divorce. . . i can no longer be a party to this. . . godspeed. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

People need to remember that Denver ranked last in sacks last year. This means that when our defense had the chance to get off the field on third down, they couldn't do it, which meant the opposing offenses could subsequently continue running for more yards.

Another thing that hurt Denver's run defense was their dreadful running game for most of the season. If you have to rely on the pass that much, you expose your run defense even more since you have more clock stoppages when you pass the ball a lot.

And then also, the way McDaniels dealt with the defensive line was just sad. He never legitimately addressed the nose tackle position in spite of having several draft picks to do so. Contrary to what many want to think, Marcus Thomas was actually decent last year in spite of playing in a defense that doesnt suit him.

So, there were a lot of factors that killed the defense last year. The personnel wasnt great by any stretch but there were so many other factors that it was like a perfect storm of ways to kill your run defense.
    bump

I think Thomas has done a really good job this year. The 4-3, Bunkley, Fox have all helped move things along. Also it doesnt hurt when the offense rarely turns the ball over and chews up the clock.
