I made a beef stroganoff sauce in the crockpot. It smells amazing.

LOL. This is the recipe we use as well.

But I was afraid the anti-Campbell's Soup mafia would ridicule me again if I posted it.

Why not make Betty Crocker's white sauce and throw the fresh mushrooms in that and skip the shit ton of unnecessary ingredients that come in canned soup?

Butter, flour milk, salt and pepper.

This is what's in Campbell's cream of mushroom soup:

INGREDIENTS: WATER, MUSHROOMS, VEGETABLE OIL (CORN, COTTONSEED, CANOLA, AND/OR SOYBEAN), MODIFIED FOOD STARCH, WHEAT FLOUR, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF: SALT, MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE, SOY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE, DEHYDRATED CREAM (CREAM [MILK], SOY LECITHIN), YEAST EXTRACT, FLAVORING, DEHYDRATED GARLIC.
