I'm going to have to side with OB on this one. Salt-cured raw looking slices of beef don't make my mouth water. Stick a brisket in a smoker at 225 for 18 hours and get back to me.
Dinner tonight. Went to a wine pairing dinner. It was really neat. It was Cajun/creole inspired so I was nervousness there would be a lot of seafood. I got lucky and he went with duck. I've never eaten it before but I stepped out of my box tonight and enjoyed it. It was also a dinner that was paired with beers instead of wines. I am also proud to say I drank everyone of my beers. It was a fun night.
So we were really bad foodies and only took one picture out of 3 courses. Will try harder next time. This was the pan seared duck breast on a risotto gumbo cake topped with a crispy slaw (I forget what the stuff on the bottom was called - basically your holy trinity with some duck fat, cream and Cajun spices). First course was a duck liver terrine with an incredible artichoke bruschetta. Dessert was a French toast with a homemade cream cheese ice cream. I ate it all and actually drank the beers they were paired with.
First course - chicken and duck terrine (pate)
