Good luck. I started my new job last Week. Been staring at some PhD's vb, batch, and bash scripts. My god this guy would rather commit seppuku than delete a line of code. And the shit he did was inneficient. Good thing that looking at his stuff is only 20% of my job. The rest is Virtual Reality.

The president of our company is touring our department on Thursday. Will be kind of cool if I get to meet him.

Transferred, and I almost lost this position because of it.

Edit to expand:

I got offered the position back in June, and signed the acceptance letter, however, my old department was trying to keep me on until tomorrow. During this transition period, my new department got a new level 3 manager (2 levels of management above me), and immediately put a freeze on new positions. Fortunately, I was able to start doing work for them 3 weeks ago, and was able to keep my newly created job.

Time flies...

So glad I had the balls to try for this job. Was a big risk for me at the time to do it.

A couple of months ago they gave me a sizable raise, and now my supervisor is leaving for an opportunity in 30 days and they met with me today and want me to take over the department.

Just goes to show sometimes you just need to do it, scared or not, just go for it.
