Saw my first one in person today, this thing is big. We had just landed in Munich and were taxiing in and then stopped. I see this four engine beast coming towards us and was trying to figure out what it was, because it didn't have the profile of a 747, but it was four engined and big engines. Anyway, started to dawn on me that it might be a 380 and then when it made the turn, I saw it was double decker the full length.
As it turned to head towards the runway, we headed down the taxiway it came from and past close behind it. The wing span is huge, extending well beyond the taxiway on both sides. The outer engines were well beyond the taxiway.
That's one big beast and the pictures and videos don't do it justice.

I frankly think it is a pile of shit.
Generally, a terrorist is going to try and take out as many people as they can, causing harm, or causing fear in a certain area (malls, shopping centers)...taking a single rifle shot at a moving plane that may, or may not harm, isn't exactly doing what they want to accomplish. Unless its to stop people from standing at that fence, because shutting down that area is about the only thing they would accomplish.

This beast was taking off before me at Heathrow last week. Never heard of the airline, but every time I see one of these it impresses me.
Out of Dubai. I think they even have a shower on the plane.
When I flew out of Frankfurt a couple weeks later, there was a Lufthansa A380 a couple jetways away. Not good pictures, because the plane was icing up quickly and so it was hard to shoot through the window.
Took two hours for us to work our way through the deicing line before being able to take off. Fortunately, we had a three hour layover and got to our connection only a few minutes after boarding started.
I was watching airplane videos on YouTube last night and I stumbled across the Emirate Airlines promo video for first class in their A380, it's pretty absurd:

That flew over my condo. Russian. Here for storage while the ruble finishes up getting it's ass kicked.
