Default SLICK- the sexy man of mans

Slick- which city in mexico do you reside again? Here is whats up. My buddies are thinking about doing an all inclusive vacay in mexico. I was planning on getting certified scuba next month. But then they told me what they were thinking.

So I got to thinking that perhaps we can give our $$ to slick to get certified when we are hanging out in beantown. How much do you charge? Here in CO they want 170 for the class and another 110 for the textbook, dvd and whatever other materials is required.

    Can we get wet together?
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I live in Puerto Aventuras. About an hour south of Cancun, or 15 minutes south of Playa del Carmen. You'd be flying into Cancun international...

There are many all inclusives around here...

    Barcelo riveria maya
    Aventura Spa palace
    Catalonia
    Dreams
    Dorado seaside

    many more but it's early

170 for class and 110 for the book? That's prostitution!!!

Here is a link to my website...

    http://www.aquanauts-online.com/index.html

Pricing is there but don't let it scare you... I can give you guys a good deal as well.

If you are really serious about this I recommend doing an open water referral.

Basically you guys should do the book stuff and the pool/confined water training back home. Then when you guys come down, all you have to do is the 4 certification dives. We could do two on one day and two another day.

If you wait and try to do the whole class down here you're looking at 4 and a half 8 hour days of training, watching videos, taking quizzes, etc....

Do that stuff at home, on the weekends, so that all you have to do with me is the diving.

I'll check back later on...heading to the dive shop right now actually...

If you have any questions, post them.

Yes, except the final open water dive is actually 4 open water dives.

The Open Water Class is the basic entry level certification. It requires reading the Open Water Manual, answering the 10 questions at the end of each chapter, 5 chapters total, taking quizzes at the end of each chapter (10 questions each) then a final exam (50 questions)

Then, there are 5 confined water sessions. Pool practice basically. My shop doesn't have a pool so we go to a lagoon in the boat.

Then there are 4 open water dives, practicing what you learned in the confined water sessions. Regulator skills, mask clearing and removal and replacement, buoyancy drills. etc...

The skills take about 10 minutes on each of the 4 open water dives and the rest of the time we make it a fun dive, exploration, looking for shit to show you guys.

Lately we've been seeing lots of turtles, sting rays, eagle rays, moray eels, lobsters, sometimes nurse sharks.

It's probably one of the easiest places to learn to dive in the world. Mild currents, good visibility, warm water, short boat rides. (There's about 15 reefs with about 10 minutes of the marina)

Love to have you guys down here, just let me know if there's anything I can do.

Thanks for the comments on the website. We made arrangements for a guy to do a website make over last year and he let us down. My step dad put this one together. I thought he did a good job for his first time trying.

i can't wait to get back to the riviera maya, playa del carmen and cozumel are AWESOME ! ive been to the pacific side of mexico 3 times and only the gulf side once....if you like water sports etc... it's definately all about the gulf side !!!!
slick , when i get another chance (stupid economy !) i will definately look you up,i want to see some cenote's (sp?) and i really missed out on checking places like chichen itza, telum and many others.
thats the problem with all inclusive resorts....makes you lazy ( and hungover)
all that free food and drinks etc... we only left the resort for 2 day trips
if the real estate market ever rebounds,i'm selling one of my houses and coming down for at least 2 weeks !!!!!!!!!

Sick. I am doing this for sure. It does not sound hard either. The only thing I am worried about is clearing my ears. Blowing out or swallowing. I am nervous about this. I am sure i can do it but I go to the bottom of my pool 12ft and my ears hurt but I cant clear them there...kinda scary.

U29, 2 things... Don't wait until you get to 12 feet to try and equalize your ears. The pressure can get to a point where you simply can't. Try equalizing once at 4 feet again at 8 and again at 12. To equalize hold your nose and blow gently against your pinched nostrils. I'll check back in when I'm not on the blackberry. I hate typing on this thing.

I will try it tomorrow after work. Its like 90 here and my pool is warm. But at 4 ft. I dont even notice it at 4 ft. perhaps 8 ft....but go down to 8 and try and clear and then go the full 12?

I definitely feel it at 12. Remember I have a fresh water pool not salt...not sure if that makes a difference.

That's the whole point though U29. Just because you don't feel it doesn't mean there's no pressure. Try it once at 6 feet then, and if you can equalize then keep going down to the bottom and try again at 12 feet.

It's also much easier if you are in a head up, feet below you position. Don't try it while you're upside down diving down to the botom. It's much harder that way.

When we equalize on a dive, we always go down in a head up, feet down position. It's safer and you can control your buoyancy better.

If you can't get to the bottom of the pool in that position try holding a weight in the other hand.

It's important that you can equalize. If not, no diving for you. If you do all that and still can't equalize, go see your doctor and tell him that you want to get certified as a diver but you are having problems equalizing. He should be able to check your inner ears or be able to refer you to someone who can take a look.
