I missed this. Keep watching. They are like that for a very specific reason.

I'm about half way through the season. Love it.

    Very anti-hero. It works.

Just finished binge-watching a syfy show called The Expanse. Extremely well done hard-core scifi. The interweaving plots are good, and the science (with a few minor exceptions ) is excellent.

Science is akin to the Martian, political intrigue and existential threat akin to GoT.

I really want to check that one out, but I never have the time. I've been trying to force myself to watch Star Trek Discovery. They dropped two F-bombs and I shut it off this week. Not really because I have an issue with that kind of language, after all, I watch GoT, Westworld, ect... with far more offensive content to it. It's more that it doesn't fit within the Star Trek universe and is a further bastardization of the original concept of Star Trek.

I was already struggling to like it because of the bad acting and overall tone of the show, that pretty much just put the final nail in for me.

And I guess the thing on it is, if it was just some generic sci-fi show, I'd probably still be watching and could get past some of the things I dislike about it, but it's freaking star trek, it's not just some random sci-fi show and that garbage isn't star trek.

The whole bait-and-switch of yet-another-streaming service killed any enthusiasm I had for that show before it even started. I grudgingly watched the "free" pilot and realized that my gut was right.

I took one look/listen to the klingons, laughed, and changed the channel.

I don't mind the look, but they sound like Klingons with a severe speech impediment. I've been watching it through "other sources" because I'm not rewarding CBS for their terrible poorly thought out idea to horde the show on their pay service that isn't worth the money...

Yeah, the hairless, purple, expressionless, latex monkeys didn't do it for me.

Just in time too, the second one is out at the end of this month. The whole show was an awesome love letter to the 80's. It felt like a perfect mix of ET, Goonies and 80's horror.

I'm worried about the second season. I get it, it was a money-making machine, so they have to make season two. But season one was such a perfect mini-series.
