Damn Dave, here is a history of great television that you really need to follow.
    1. The Wire
    2. Deadwood
    3. Sopranos
    4. Breaking Bad

That is the order you should watch the greatest television series of all time

I wish they kept wild bill in it for longer, I liked the portrayal of him and thought, him, Montana and swearenger could have had some good story lines

So this programme makes me want to buy a bottle of frontier whiskey and drink it out of small shot glasses, how is it possible that i never even heard of deadwood before - it is easily in my top 5 shows of all time

Ian McShane is pretty much perfect in that show

I have never been able to sit down and watch The Wire. It's been on my list to watch for years now. I would content that The Sopranos is the greatest show of all time, bar none, so would rank it ahead of Deadwood. But all the shows you've listed here are top notch. Deadwood was great.

I have the same trouble with Deadwood which I've never watched.

I agree with the same shows though. Think Breaking Bad was the best show ever though. They just never faltered.

Sopranos was fantastic but they had more missteps than BB or Wire.

    1) Breaking Bad
    2) Wire
    3) Sopranos

Oz is one of the best shows I've ever seen in my life. The West Wing is fantastic, too. I'll have to watch The Sopranos, but the ending of that show pretty much ruined it for me.

I think Breaking Bad sort of jumped the shark in the end. The whole Jesse as a slave thing became increasingly more outlandish IMO. Still loved the show though. Some would argue the Sopranos did the same with the whole Tony in a coma thing, but I actually found that to be incredibly compelling meta television.

The ending was the best part.

The main writer came out and told us the real ending years later. I think it was just sloppy story-telling that came from a guy who was panicking.

No he didn't. Chase has always been ambiguous about the ending.
