I love how Jason Mamoa is now either Khal Drago or Aquaman.

Anywyay just finished up a few great limited series. The first was Sharp Objects with Amy Adams which was a great psychological crime procedural somewhere between True Detective Season 1 and the less pretentious parts of Twin Peaks:

The next was Escape From Dannemora which was based on the prison escape from 2015. This was such a good series and really showcased the acting chops of all involved, particularly Benencio Del Toro and Patricia Arquette. Ben Stiller did a great job directing this as well, and none of the episodes feel like filler:

Watched both of these and agree. I am now watching The Deuce on HBO, I like it so far (just finished season 1)

And in non-binge related news, Season 3 of True Detective is great so far. Nice slow burn like the first season.

I've really been enjoying this as well. The vibe is more in line with season 1. I enjoyed season 2.

Season 2 had some great moments. And also spoiler if you click this but it looks like they might be tying season 1 into season 3: https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueDetecti...e_5_promo_has/

Game of Thrones spoilers below --

Finished Season 1 - loved almost all of it - episode 9 was gripping where Joffrey has Ned Stark killed. Didn't see that coming. The "mid-evil" human element of the show is great.

But I'll be honest - the dragon bullshit in the season finale is already losing me a bit. And now I've started season 2 and it's like, oh, here are all these new clans and people you need to know -- it kind of reminds me of my main critique of Lord of the Rings, which is that the damn plot just repeats itself over and over - except in LOTR at least I was invested in the characters. I can see this turning into "Now these guys are going to war. And now these ones. And these ones." Hopefully I'm wrong.

I've watched season 1 a few times. After I watched it the second time my wife finally said she wanted to watch it as well so I watched it again. It is my favorite season of TV and IMHO it is the finest piece of television that has ever been filmed.

Season 2 disappointed me at first but in preparation for season 3 I rewatched it and enjoyed it much more on a second viewing.

Season 3 has been great so far, not as great as season 1 but still very good.

I don't usually watch drama series more than once, in fact True Dective is the only one I can think of. I will rewatch the last episode of the previous season of GOT before the next season starts just to refresh my memory, but that's it.

Comedy series I will rewatch if I like them. I've seen most episodes of Seinfeld, Malcom in the Middle, the Office and It's Always Sunny more than once.
