PITTSBURGH -- Ben Roethlisberger will marry a 26-year-old physician's assistant whom he said he met during training camp in 2005 and has been friends with ever since, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette for a story in Thursday's editions.


Roethlisberger, speaking publicly for the first time since the Steelers' loss to the Green Bay Packers in the Super Bowl, talked about his fiancee, her family and the impact their engagement has had on everyone involved since it leaked out in various media outlets late last year. His wedding is scheduled for July 23, which is a week before Steelers training camp is scheduled to begin, unless the NFL's lockout still is ongoing.




Roethlisberger said he was surprised by how much media attention his engagement to Ashley Harlan received when news of it leaked out earlier this year to news media.


"I was surprised at how much media attention it was getting -- it's just an engagement," he told the newspaper. "I never expected it to be on the front pages of all the papers and websites. There was speculation what our invitations would look like and who is coming! It almost seemed surreal, it was like a movie or something, it was weird."

What I thought was funny was the news blurb I saw this morning or last night about his religous beliefs not allowing him to move in with her or sleep with her, which based on the allegations thrown his way and the where there's smoke, there's usually fire, is pretty damn funny.

So they've been engaged for over a year, is that right? But last year he raped that girl too right?


So he cheated on this one since he could not de-flower his wifey?




I think he hit his headharder on that bus than anyone cares to say. she is cute though.

She said yes after he yelled SURPRISE. She felt so much more important than those other girls.

There are so many places to go with this story, and none of 'em good. I suppose if he didn't propose in the Men's room its bonus points awarded

She's the first girl to ever say yes to him.

Well if anything he does have money..some people are blinded

No no no...he said they were on/off. The rape(s) were during the offs.

On my side of the family...one is 30 and her sister is 22
One is 33 who is the one I said looks like her.
I have a couple of other ones that are 21 and 23 that are sisters.
