    Default Assassin's final mock

    ROUND 1
    MARCEL DAREUS, DT, Alabama
    6'3" 319

DT is clearly our biggest need. He's the best one in this draft.

    ROUND 2A
    ALLEN BAILEY, DE, Miami (FL)
    6'4" 285

Bailey is a realistic possibility to drop to round 2. Strong, athletic, explosive. Looks the part.

    ROUND 2B
    MARVIN AUSTIN, DT, North Carolina
    6'3" 310

Risk/Reward pick, but our lack of depth at DT necessitates that we take 2 DTs in this draft. Highly recruited out of HS, his performance was good, but question marks do exist. If the coaches can tap into his raw talent, Austin playing alongside Dareus could be lethal.

    ROUND 3
    LUKE STOCKER, TE, Tennessee
    6'6" 253

Yes, I am a UT homer, but Stocker is a complete TE. I think he drops to round 3 due to his lack of highlights. Trust me folks, it has all to do w/ UT's lack of QBs and nothing to do w/ Stocker. He blocks and catches equally well. A poor man's Witten...with the potential to be as productive.

    ROUND 6
    JAMIE HARPER, RB, Clemson
    6'0" 235

I'm actually surprise Harper came out, but Clemson is goin thru some big changes. I made it a point to watch Clemson games after that and he never disappointed...even when Clemson did. A bigger back with good athleticism and he caught the ball quite well. If were analogizing, I see him as a poor man's Jon Stewart and Knowshon is our DeAngelo Williams.

    ROUND 7
    OBI EZEH, ILB, Michigan
    6'2" 250

Project LB who has the size and for the middle. Originally recruited by a defensive mind, maybe the pros will get the most out of his talent.

For the most part i really like it. Either Fairley or Dareus will make me happy at #2. I think Austin is vastly overrated and not even worth picking up so thats really my only gripe here. Outside of that its really good and hits a lot of needs.

    i think i just shed a tear. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

i didn't use the comp pick. I'll add that later.

And no, no Safety. We have youth in the secondary. Maybe not great youth, but youth none the less. If we can attack the defensive front this draft, we can make a push for LB and secondary help in 2012.

    COMP PICK
JOSH GATLIN, CB, North Dakota State
    6'1" 196 4.39 40YD

At this point, I go with the measureables...and this kid has em. Great speed for a CB of his height...or any height for that matter. Small school project who may surprise and move up some boards.

Nice mock, SA. I don't know if you've seen Mayock's new rankings but he has Marvin Austin rising extremely quickly right now. I think he's now the #4 DT behind Luiget (he has leapfrogged Paea and Wilkerson) and may not make it out of the first round.

I'd almost rather have Paea. Either way, I'd have very little to complain about if the draft turns out like your mock.

The big thing is free agency. Will we get Harris back or will we need to get a G and move Beadles to RT or pick up another RT in FA? Can we sign a FA RB? What FA Safeties might we be able to get? This lockout really makes mock drafts hard to make after the first round or two.

The only FA I want is the New Orleans RT. Otherwise, lets see what our youth can do w/ a new staff/scheme.

Smilin, is Elway just laying a smoke screen on the whole QB thing?

Ps I hope all is well.

All is well. Thanx! Dr. expects the cancer to be gone by this time next year.

Now to business...I can't see Elway being too excited about ANY QB in this draft. Weakest class I can remember for quite some time. If ya don't like Tebow, ya can't like Gabbert or Newton. MAYBE Locker may be worth a 2nd round risk, but I still doubt it.

I call BS on the QB love.
