Default If a guy falls in draft do we have to pull the trigger?

I have been thinking about this and the millions of scenarios that we have gone over and over. But i have not see many topics that involve players falling. I still have a feeling that we are going dareus/fairley (in that order).

So with #2 out of the way (dareus/Fairley)

Here are options that could be there at our 2s...

    OT- Nate Solder
    CB- Brandon Harris
    DE-Adrian Clayborn
    DT-Stephen Peaea
    DT-luigit
    DE- Allen Bailey
    DE-Cameron Heyward
    LB-Martez Wilson
    LB Greg Jones
    OT-Anthony Castonzo
    DT- Phil Taylor

If Solder, fell it would be hard to pass him up. But same with Brandon Harris. I like Harris a lot more than PP, However some studs like Bailye, Clayborn and Peae might not make it another 10 picks.

Assuming we take Dareus/Fairley at 1, do we take an OT or CB at two and somewhat skip our needs at DT and DE or do we take our needs and hope that they make it another 10 picks?
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell

I'm a huge CU fan and I think Solder is overrated. Definitely a project to turn him into a reliable NFL left tackle. That said, if we can get him in the second round I feel like that's pretty fair value.

Absolutely. And that's the great thing about this draft. We are weak on the line and there are plenty of prospects with first round grades that will fall tlo both of our slots in the second round. I would hope that we go best player available with ALL of our picks.

Remember: Tim Tebow is left handed. We need someone who can protect his blind side on the RIGHT side. We certainly can afford to draft a right or left tackle and figure out if we want Clady on Tebow's blind side or if we want the new tackle to be on the right side. It certainly would help our run game if we added another talented offensive lineman to the fold.

Hopefully a resolution to the CBA issue or trades are allowed to be made by draft time so we can pick up some picks for Orton. Looks like Seattle might be willing to give up as high as a second if Kolb goes high and Carson turns out to be off the market. Unless of course they become enamored with a free agent like Vince Young(who torched Carroll in the national championship game).

OT will be gone. There always seems to be a run on OT in the draft. Teams always reach. Lol @ like harris more than pp. You can like him more nothing wrong with that but are you saying you think harris will/is better? I don't think he will be half the player peterson will be.

I bet someone falls, Nate Solder stock is declining.

I like harris, will be be as good as PP-no, prob not. But I dont think they are that far apart in overall ability and one can be had a complete round later.

out of that group, i'd order my picks

    1. paea
    2. taylor
    3. harris
    4. claiborne

i don't buy that liuget and castonzo will be there. . .

and i won't say that harris is a better prospect than the hype machine, but i think he'll be a hands down better value towards the end of the first than hype machine in the top five. . .
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

I would take harris with are second pick in round two. I like paea if hes there...but I like taylor more but highly doubt he's there. In my world my first 3 picks are Peterson, (yes I changed) Taylor, martez wilson. But wouldn't mind trading back to 3, 5, 7, 8.

The reason I switched over to peterson as my pick is bc we cannot afford to miss. Plus the d line is solid in this draft. I don't see farley or dareus as good as suh but I see peterson as good as suh at his position. On the defensive side of the ball we have to take best avalable. We need talent and I believe peterson is best player in draft.

    right.

The point of the thread though is we all have done mocks and projects on guys who will or should be there by the time our 2nds come to pass, but as we see each and every year someone who was early first round material falls. So with this I was trying to add a few names that shouldnt but just might. And if they do fall, do we stray from our previous and nab them.
    See ex.

    dareus
    Phil taylor
    Adrian Clayborn

    Dareus
    solder
    nevis

    or

    dareus
    harris
    clayborn

etc etc... What if those first round guys at OT and CB and such fall. Do we nab one instead of looking at a DT like Peae or luigy ?

I think you'd have to be an OL scout to make a statement like that... I do believe it's deeper than originally thought though... into the 4th before it's scraping the dregs... Of course, we don't have a 4th so that really sucks...

If Luiget or Clayborn is there at 36 I'd have a hard time taking on OT but the others???

I get that, 29. But you did list 2 OT's, yes? When most think defense, you're listing a position that CURRENTLY is not a need, imo.

Plus, not trying to be a smartass, but if a player falls from a" 1st rd pick", then maybe he wasn't one to begin with? His hype became transparent? His scabs started to show?

I still like my mocks better. Pass on Solder and Harris in the 2nd round for me.

Nothing of the sort/never claimed to be/DO listen to them, nfl fo guys,ex player/analysts.
The interior OL is just the opposite of the OT's depth/skill wise.
