Our rank emblems for our cammies pin on, so it used to be that when you got promoted they would leave the backs off and everyone would take turns snacking your chevrons to drive the pins into your chest. A few guys actually wound up with chipped collar bones, etc, but you ALWAYS wound up bruised and bleeding.

    It was ******* stupid.

I see dudes when they get promoted come to work a couple days later with black and blue arms from their shoulders down to their elbows. Drives me bananas.

We used to do that too. We also used to give blood wings after Airborne school. We dont do that anymore. We also used to have military courtesy and discipline . Some of our pvts dont do that either.

I've noticed that at certain units or bases, but not as an institutional problem. Either way, the solution is the same. Junior officers and NCOs taking it back.

Ok so we are almost done with our COC inventory. We should have the COC ceremony next friday. We will have a new 1SG, CO, and me the new XO. I already did PT with one of the platoons and out ran the entire platoon. We are gonna have a PT revolution. The rivers will flow with the blood of the non- believers. Head Hunters!!

The problem isn't just with NCO's and junior enlisted. It starts much higher than that. I still work around the military a lot and most colonels seem to be much more concerned about the font of powerpoint presentations than leading. In my opinion, the reason the U.S. doesn't win wars anymore is because generals used to be colonels. If there really was such a thing as "death by powerpoint" the War on Terror would have been over years ago.

Army, I'm not ignoring your posts. I've deleted one post and edited this post because it was heading in a direction I didn't want it to go. I have nothing but support for our military. I just hope one day our leaders realize that you can't fight PC wars.

I agree completely about pc wars. I think we need to stop worrying about peoples feelings and politics, then make a statement. You win wars by making others die for their country.....

I think it is a mix bag, there are some that really get it and as one old Marine Corp General told me, "they smelled gun power" and understand what it means. Then there are others that got to O-6/O-7 plus that got there because they didn't take any risks. The Navy is struggling big time when comes to senior leadership right now.
"We saw it…. the hussars let loose their horses. God, what power! They ran through the smoke and the sound was like that of a thousand blacksmiths beating with a thousand hammers

They rush on to the Swedes! They crash into the Swedish riters…. Overwhelm them! They crash into the second regiment - Overwhelmed! Resistance collapses, dissolves, they move forward as easily as if they were parading on a grand boulevard

I know what you mean about risks. We had an O5 who was scared to let my team out at night in baghdad for a while. Funny how every attack or ambush we were in was during the day. To include taking grenade shrapnel to my helmet, ducking a wire which took my crew serve weapon from my vehicle and so on. The only night incident we had was when my buddy rolled my truck into a rivine. I just held on to the turret so i wouldnt fall out. I saw 1 night IED attack and it was on a logpac convoy while we were stuck on an overpass changing a tire. Either way, our O5 didnt realize we were on route Irish almost everyday.

I kinda get that especially if he was new to a line command and was trying "not to screw-up and get his guys WIA/KIA, but when comes to peace time operations I don't have a lot of respect for some guys/gay that become "yes-men" to get promoted.

So today the new CO and myself were walking and he pointed out a fat soldier to me. I told him that i hated when i trained with Marine and had changed their perception of the Army with my work ethic and PT ....then i would see soldiers like that which only makes that perception a reality. It pisses me the F/;#& off.
