    Default Week 4 Power Rankings

    1. Indianapolis Colts - Defense has come back to earth a bit. Teams in their division have played the Colts tough the past two years, but they're finding ways to win.

    2. New England Patriots - Passing game is hitting on all cylinders. Early leads are taking the pressure off the defense.

    3. Pittsburgh Steelers - Rookie head coach has the Steelers looking like a machine.

    4. Dallas Cowboys - Another impressive win. Victimized secondary vents frustration on Rex Grossman.

    5. Green Bay Packers - Pack wins third straight, second in a row scoring thirty-plus. Now who thinks I've got 'em ranked too high?

    6. Seattle Seahawks - Survive close game with sneaky strategy of holding Palmer under six TD passes. Deion Branch is getting comfortable in their system.

    7. Washington Redskins - Could be undefeated if not for some poor play-calling at the end of the game.

    8. Baltimore Ravens - Hasn't been pretty at times, but they've won two in a row after a last-minute loss to the Bengals that included a controversial call.

    9. Tennessee Titans – Vince Young is a winner, plain and simple. And Jeff Fischer is one of the better coaches in the league. This team is extremely physical in the trenches, and is starting to look an awful lot like the Titans of old, when Air McNair and Eddie George were leading the way.

    10. Houston Texans - Texans maintain their ranking after staying close to Indy despite the loss of Andre Johnson.

    11. Carolina Panthers - With all their talent, Panthers should be mauling weak opponents instead of scraping by.

    12. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Two big wins in a row. Bucs are playing tough defense and putting up points with their running game.

    13. Jacksonville Jaguars - Came into Denver and punched the Broncos in the mouth with their physical play. Got their ground game on track against a weak run D, and Garrard continues to be efficient.

    14. Denver Broncos - Team has lots of potential, but it won't be realized if they can't fix the run defense. They’re not playing very good fundamental football right now.

    15. San Diego Chargers - Talent alone won't keep them in the top half of these rankings if they can't put up a "W" next week. O-line isn't opening holes-- secondary is full of 'em.

    16. Chicago Bears - Even fantastic defense can't make up for Gruesome Grossman. How long can Lovie Smith stick with him?

    17. San Francisco 49ers - Big loss in Pittsburgh was no big surprise, but is it a sign of things to come?

    18. Philadelphia Eagles - Can't rank them any higher than this after their first win, but I sense more victories in the Eagles' future. Reports of Donovan McNabb's demise were greatly exaggerated, and they showed this week just how dangerous they can be when Reid runs a balanced offense featuring Brian Westbrook.

    19. Cincinnati Bengals - Played well enough to hold off other underachievers in the rankings, but they shot themselves in the foot at the end of the game.

    20. Arizona Cardinals - Came close to beating a tough Ravens team on the road.

    21. Detroit Lions - That thud you heard was the Lions coming back to earth in a big way. Is Rod Marinelli the head coach of this team, or is Mike Martz?

    22. New York Giants - Earned a big win against the Redskins. Did Tiki Barber light a fire under Eli Manning?

    23. New York Jets - Thomas Jones finally gets on track as the Jets get off the schnide following losses to two tough teams.

    24. Cleveland Browns - Young team suffers heart-breaking road loss after a big win last week.

    25. Oakland Raiders - Lucky win after unlucky loss. Poetic justice, anyone?

    26. Minnesota Vikings - Suffer disappointing loss on the road after leading most of the game. Dominant defense is wasted by putrid offense.

    27. New Orleans Saints – Reeling after a third straight loss. Offensive line has regressed, receivers aren’t making plays on the outside, and Drew Brees looks confused. Defense is still bad. When will the paper bags come back?

    28. Kansas City Chiefs - Narrow victory prompts temporary jump up the rankings, but they'll quickly be back where they came from if they can't get something out of Larry Johnson.

    29. St. Louis Rams - Finally got Steven Jackson going a little bit, but it wasn't enough.

    30. Miami Dolphins - Defense is old and bad. Offense is just bad, despite a rare Ronnie Brown sighting.

    31. Buffalo Bills - Good news about Everett is their only consolation after getting mauled again. Defense is getting decimated by injuries. It's going to be an awfully long year in Buffalo.

    32. Atlanta Falcons - Good game from Joey Harrington at least demonstrated a pulse, but whether it's Joey or Byron Leftwich, they're just keeping the seat warm for Brian Brohm.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

i imagine we would look pretty amazing if we could fix our run defense. at least a top 10 team if thats fixed...tweak the special teams and were in the top 7. hopefully we can pull out 2 wins in the next 3 games.
