The Cleveland Browns have informed defensive lineman Shaun Rogers he is being released, according to a league source.
Rogers played well under former coordinator Rob Ryan, but the Browns are shifting from his scheme. Rogers, 31, has had off-field issues and was set to count $7.7 million against the salary cap.
The 10-year NFL veteran has the ability to perform at an elite level but has struggled with consistency. He was to earn a $5.5 million base with a $500,000 roster bonus and $100,000 workout bonus.
The Browns also terminated the contracts of five other players: linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens, defensive linemen Kenyon Coleman, tight end Robert Royal and offensive lineman John St. Clair.
