Right or wrong, it's pretty easy to understand.
Well to be honest, rb's ARE the easiest to replace. Almost throw away.

McD showed the propensity to focus in on one player, and give whatever it took to get that player, be damned the rest. He showed that with the CB, both Quinns, and Tebow. He was absolutely TERRIBLE at evaluating talent, and thought it was absolutely necessary not to use the previous coach's draft choices. Horrible, HORRIBLE, coach.

All we can hope for is that in a few years once Shurmur is fired, McDaniels becomes HC of the Browns and trades us Hillis for Quinn again

Not sure it's that good. More like the 'afterglow' from an extra five minutes in the shower.

You do realize that he had like 3 touches of the ball in the first 8 weeks of the year..

and that he really never was given a running role until all of the other available real RB's on the team were not able to suit up and run due to injuries.

Hillis was benched early in the 2008 season. We later learned from Cutler that there was a perception that Hillis had a concentration problem at first and it was seen as lacking a ‘keep your head in the game' approach. Hillis returned from it and was productive, effective and showed great promise. There was no public pouting nor any sign of anything but a willingness to mature and do better.

Oddly, blocking isn't his best skill, and that may have also impacted why he was benched for a while. He needs work on his hand placement, which was at times inconsistent. One area that didn't need work was his enthusiasm, being quick to look for someone to block in the second level. He has been too quick to cut block over his career. He also has had a problem at times with getting into a ‘funk' after a bad play, but he seems to be overcoming it.
I might add that the common denominator in his two years in DEN were Bobby Turner..

He was said to assign the practice time for his group that both HC honored. No touches no playing time.

Now that all said I was a Hillis fan from draft day on. In Joshes offense I saw him as our Kevin Faulk. But he was never considered a Mensa candidate.

I know I have read several articles about his "lack of practicing hard and considered himself a game day player instead.

I've read several articles that the economy has recovered too.

I'll tell you a secret. Just because some dumbass wrote an article about something doesn't mean it's true.

You needed to add "with an agenda" between "dumbass" and "wrote".

I am going to continue following Peyton's career, and will never get over the desire to punch McD square in the nose whenever I watch him play. Anyone who thinks we are better without Hillis than with him needs therapy.

Lonestar, your article clips don't do much to support the argument that he is a meathead who doesn't understand the playbook. The first clip you used says there was a "perception" he had a concentration problem. Why the qualifier? He either did, or he didn't, have a concentration problem. The same clip also said "Hillis returned from it and was productive, effective and showed great promise. There was no public pouting nor any sign of anything but a willingness to mature and do better." So, even if it was a real problem, he got over it.

The other clip says he tended to get in a funk after bad plays, something I actually never noticed so I don't where it came from, but also says the he was getting over that. Regarding his blocking, maybe, but I don't think I can buy that he was actually worse than any of our other backs in this area. Did Mike Alstott do a lot of blocking? I honestly don't know, but he was a FB too.

I am no Shanahan apologist, it was time for him to go, but he did show time and time again that he was happy to let surprise talent show their ability and give them starting roles if they earned it, regardless of draft position.

My gosh, to read some people, you wonder why even have late round drafts if being drafted late means you deserve no chance to ever be a starter since a higher round pick ALWAYS deserves to be the starter, regardless of what each player has shown in ability and desire.

I've been taking a lot longer showers lately. It must have something to do with the cold.

I was going to go into the ridiculousness of the articles that he posted as "proof" for the unsubstantiated rumor that Hillis wasn't smart enough to grasp the playbook, but you did a much better job. Its an absurd statement, and even more absurd to repeat it as if it were fact.....especially using these as your 'proof.' Thanks.
