http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...-jan-cavanaughPackers quarterback Aaron Rodgers appeared today on The Dan Patrick Show. During the interview, Rodgers addressed the video that appeared over the weekend on WBAY-TV in Green Bay, with Rodgers walking past Packers fan and cancer survivor Jan Cavanaugh as she sought an autograph.
“I’ve met Jan on previous occasions,” Rodgers said. “As the video shows, I didn’t see her. I didn’t sign for her. It turned into something I didn’t really expect.”
I apologize to Rodgers for painting him with an unjustifiably broad brush based on a very brief slice of his life. It was wrong to jump to conclusions about whether he treats fans properly, and whether he understands the connection between the fans who support him and the money he makes. Though some have argued that true character is revealed in those fleeting moments, the whole truth about a man falls somewhere between his best days and his worst days. For Rodgers, there’s no reason to believe that the truth isn’t a lot closer to the best than the worst.
I apologize to Packers fans for distracting you from the afterglow of a game that has ushered in a new golden age of Green Bay football. With a stirring win over the top-seeded Falcons and a historic postseason contest against the Bears on the horizon, you shouldn’t have had to worry about an opinion that I delivered too quickly, too strongly, and too stubbornly. I allowed emotions based on my own experiences to overcome reason, and I hope in the future to be able to take a step back before sharing the full thrust of my initial reaction on these pages, especially when the reaction is fueled by emotion based on my own experiences.
I also apologize to Jan Cavanaugh. As Armando Salguero explained it earlier today during my weekly visit with WFTL in South Florida, I tried to rescue a damsel in distress before determining whether she wanted to be rescued. (Actually, that’s sort of how I met my wife.) I should have realized that this would bring attention she doesn’t want or need, and I would have if I hadn’t shared the full thrust of my initial reaction without thinking it through or looking into the good things Rodgers has done.

THIS ONES FOR JOHNWOULD YOU RATHER WIN UGLY, OR LOSE PRETTY?
Well since I've met both Rogers and Cutler I can tell you that Rogers was kind, decent took the time to talk me to me and looked me in the eye while doing it, and he did all of this without any camera's on him.
Cutler the total opposite when he was here in Denver. He was only semi decent when there was a camera on him. However if he's grown up and being a decent guy to his fans then good for him and Bear fans.
The fact that they tried to make Rogers look bad is so lame, it's just National Enquirer reporting at it's worst. He was getting on the plane to go to Atlanta, kind of a important game. The thing that surprised me is that fans could hang out in the airport like that. I guess I thought that all teams took charter planes in a separate area of the airport.
Getting Stoked
Getting ready for a huge NFC Championship game and this is all you got Ursa? The Packers got ya worried?
These guys get stopped everywhere they go for autographs. They don't catch all those on video, but the one time they don't sign and it's caught on tape, it gets blown up like this.![]()
I'm sure Aaron just hates cancer patients. I'm sure he's an absolutely lousy guy.![]()
Go Packers!
http://sports-boards.net/forums/showthread.php?t=172558Apparently a friend has a friend who is a
retired teacher and who is involved with the Boys & Girls Club.
Someone from the Packer organization called this guy at the Boys &
Girls Club and told them to bring 75 kids from the Boys and Girls Club
to the new bowling alley in Howard and they would get soda, pizza and
free bowling. They got a second call upping the amount of kids to
100. When they all got there, there were about 15 Packers players
there to visit and bowl with them. When they were done, all the kids
were each given $100 to go to Shopko for Christmas shopping,
accompanied by the Packer players.. And it was all funded by Aaron Rodgers.
There was no publicity, no television cameras. We are lucky
to have him in Green Bay .
http://dad29.blogspot.com/2011/01/aaron-rogers-man.htmlThis job affords me some incredible opportunities. Being a member of the FOX 6 Sports team means I've been able to witness and report on events and people that many can only admire from a distance. I never take these situations for granted and sincerely appreciate being involved in whatever capacity each permits.
Monday marked just the most recent case as I had the unparalleled privilege to be a part of Aaron Rodgers charity event to benefit the MACC Fund,...
...His favorite book is The Bible and he tries to read it every day not just when life's challenges and struggles surface.
His favorite movie is The Princess Bride which he admits he's caught flack for but says he and his childhood friends can recite every line from the film and it is simply a great story.
...My friend, the father of that young girl who passed, was there that night. He was one of several attendees brought up on stage where he caught a football thrown by the quarterback of the Green Bay Packers.
He asked Aaron to sign the football he'd caught. He wondered if he'd make it out to his daughter. It isn't shocking that Rodgers obliged. What caught me off guard was the dedication he made. It wasn't until after Aaron left that I first saw the autograph... and the simple yet sweet message that brought tears to this father's eyes:
"To Cheri the angel. Save me a spot. - Aaron Rodgers"
Read the rest here: http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/story/1...apture-rodgersMaybe you're smart enough to see those two seconds, and none of the minutes or even days that came before or after, and judge Aaron Rodgers. Me, I'm not that smart. For example, it took me four viewings before I noticed the tiny white cords coming out of Rodgers' ears. He was most likely listening to something, which means he couldn't hear the woman in pink as he hurried through the airport, just finished with security, his shoes back on and his phone again in his pocket. He had a team official at his side, and an NFC playoff game in 24 hours.
The man was preoccupied.
Two seconds. That's what you saw. You're going to judge Aaron Rodgers based on those two seconds? Not me, and I'm not crying anymore. Now I'm angry, because what happened to Aaron Rodgers -- yes, to him, because he's a victim here -- was wrong. I'm as guilty as anyone, now that I think of it, because my tweet wasn't innocent. I wasn't merely posing a question, as I self-servingly wrote a few paragraphs ago. I was spreading the story as far as my Twitter feed could spread it:
It seems like this is more of a smack thread and perhaps should have been put in the smack forum...![]()
Ursa, you're funny.Unfortunately, after what we have been through this season, we just don't have the heart to joke about playoffs with you.

This is complete BS. The video shows him slowly strolling by. I'm guessing you are one of those that thinks every athlete should stop at every moment, every step, and sign everything taht anyone holds out at them.
You need to watch the video again, and the OP should hang his head in shame for making such a ridiculous statement about ANYONE like this and using such a crappy video as if it were proof of a single thing. Its disgusting how you guys want to jump on people like this.
(the previous comment was not directed at any particular individual and was not intended to slander, disrespect or offend any reader of said statement)
Ursa, you disgust me.
Nut, he is just worried that the Packers are going to completely dominate the Bears on Sunday. I don't blame him, I can see it happening as well.
Jay Cutler eats baby penguin and he enjoys punching deaf midgets, but who doesn't?
Let's Rid3!!!!
