Default Gregg Williams withdraws name from Broncos job

Here’s a surprise: Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams has declined to interview with the Denver Broncos for their head coaching position.

“Williams made the decision today after discussing the situation with family and his players,” Duncan writes.

Guess we're not as prominent as we used to be.

    I'm OK with this though.
    Bill Williamson:

"The Broncos went from one of the more attractive organizations in the NFL to one in total disarray. McDaniels will go down as one of the most reviled figures in Denver sports history".

My wife and kids would kill me if I took a job outside of Denver and we had to all move. Actually, they wouldn't kill me, they'd just say "goodbye".

I think they'd change thier mind if you were offered what a head coach's salary is Joe.

Maybe, but as most coaches will admit - you're hired to be fired. In most cases, of course.

Sucks that it's the 2nd coordinator to pull out without even interviewing.

Not too upset about Malarkey or Williams. They weren't high on my list.

After what the Seahawks did to the Saints, I don't mind this at all.

He apparently accepted initially, as they had a scheduled date for the interview. It would seem that something made him change his mind.

I do remember some quote where he said the Saints were one of the "few sane organizations in the NFL" or something along those lines... so maybe bad experiences elsewhere (Buffalo? Washington?) are a contributing factor to his final decision.

Could be that he and his family are just happy where they are. They feel secure, they like the community, they like the city, they like where they are working. That goes a long way. Maybe Williams just didn't enjoy being a HC, and maybe his family didn't like him being an HC.

    Who knows?

I think it is southeast bias.

The freaking NFC South has never given Denver the respect they deserve.

he knew that he could never compete with such a highly-regarded A-list candidate as rick dennison. . . .

“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”

Money isn't everything to everyone. I'm sure they're living a VERY comfortable life in NO.
