    Default MGS4 Help needed

Metal gear gurus, I need your help with MGS4.

I have never played any of the first 3. 4 is my first. I bought it about a week ago, and have only played 1-2 hours. I figured out there is a certain dynamic to the game you have to follow...Keeping stealth and hidden. I haven't mastered any moves, tricks, kills, etc and haven't been able to stay alive past the first set of enemies...much due to the fact I can't stay stealth.

Any tips, or advice fellas? Keep in mind this is the first time I play any MG games.

A bit of advice Benetto- Pick up the trilogy pack, MGS, MGS2, and MGS3 for $30.

MGS3 is still the best of the past-gen trilogy, and still has good enough graphics and cool gameplay options that you can appreciate in current-gen.

I'm not sure how the save feature in the original MGS would work on a PS3, being that it is a PS1 game...

However, if fast, hyper gameplay is your niche, you may (edit-) NOT like the games, and not fully appreciate Solid Snake. But I think to fully grasp the scope of the games, you need to play the first ones.

If you don't want to play the original MGS because it is so dated (I couldn't even blame you!), Ninetendo re-made it for the Gamecube, MGS-The Twin Snakes. It was a fine remake. If you know anyone with a GC, you can check it out. Used GCs are like $20.

Again, to appreciate the full scope of a gaming epic offered like Solid Snake's (one of the best gaming characters EVER IMO), check out the other titles.

Thanks for the word of advice Shazaam...I was thinking to read up a little on the story. I got the hang of Guns of the Patriot, and have been on a roll. My problem was, I didn't know I was supposed to be stealth, and make surprise attacks 90% of the time.

I'll have to check out Gamestop and buy the used PS2 Metal gears some time..Sounds like its a must.

You can read a summary of 'The Shadow Moses Island Incident' of MGS at Wikipedia, but you can never understand and appreciate how literally awesome the original MGS was. From characters to plot to weapons to gameplay and everything. Next to FFVII, easily one of the best PS1 games ever made.

I finished it a while back. First time through, throw stealth in the garbage. Just shoot the hell out of everything and make your way through the game. Time enough for stealth on your second play through...;-)
