Default Top 3 Prospects for the #2 Pick in the 2011 NFL Draft

Give me your top 3 prospects at the #2 spot in the 2011 NFL Draft. Luck will either stay in college or be taken by Carolina at #1, so let's not turn this into a Luck vs. Tebow thread. Here's mine:

    1. Nick Fairley
    2. Marcell Dareus
    3. Patrick Peterson

I'd say in no certain order Dareus, Bowers, and Peterson.

For those saying Bowers, so you see him succeeding as a 3-4 DE?

I dont think it would be a problem honestly. Both Dareus and Fairly are able to transition from DE/DT and so forth so i just cant imagine it being that hard for Bowers honestly. Peterson is talented but nowhere near what Denver needs right now.

ehh with the 2nd overall pick Im not even concerned with what defensive scheme scouts think a player fits in coming out of college and Im praying Denver isnt thinking that way either, just pick the best football player available.. The great ones dont need a certain scheme to produce.

The reason I asked is that Bowers doesn't have the frame that Fairley and Dareus have. He's about 20 pounds lighter. It's critical that a 3-4 DE be able to hold the point of attack against the guards and tackles in the NFL. I'm not sure Bowers can do that. He's a spectacular 4-3 prospect, just not one of my top 3 in a 3-4 defense.

Then again, the Broncos could end up with a 4-3 when it's all said and done.

More so than at OLB. His frame is really no diffrent than other 3-4 DE prospects like Adrian Clayborn, Cameron Jordan, Allen Bailey, or Cameron Heyward to name a few.

This is true Skinny, but the names you've listed are all projected mid-first round or later, not anywhere near the #2 pick in the draft. Bowers intrigues me because of his explosiveness. In a 4-3 I put him in my top 3. In a 3-4 he drops out of that area.

I think he projects as a light 3-4 DE, which makes him a bit of a project in that defense. Marcel Dareus and Nick Fairley are head and shoulders above him in terms of a 3-4 DE, and Robert Quinn is head and shouders above him as a 3-4 OLB prospect.

I agree 100%, it's why I listed behind Dareus and Fairley. Dareus would be my 1st choice by a slim margin over Fairley because of his versatility and experiance having played DE in the 3-4.

I think Dareus is a guy who could put on 20 lbs (big stocky frame) and be a Haloti Ngata type of DE (320 - 330 lbs) who could shift over to NT on passing downs. He was so dominant against Mich. St. and against Texas last year in the bowl game. I want him the most.

    This... Exactly.... In order even...
    The Plan at the moment:

Draft: Trade a 3rd and 6th this year to a team to move up and get a 2nd next year (this will happen).

    Players I want:
Jake Ferguson (Jake Butt) or Jelani Woods or Jeremy Ruckert or Cade Otten (owen daniels) at TE- All 4th rd or later.
Troy Anderson LB 3rd/4th rd (yay Timmy!)
Neil Farrell, JR DL- run stuffer- bye purcell
