Default GameFAQS game of the Decade

I think most people that play games have heard of GameFAQs. Anyways right now they are doing a poll on game of the decade. It's kind of interesting. As of right now it looks like the favorite to win is Super Smash Bros Brawl.

Agreed. This is a game that I should have loved but I can not stand. I am a huge Nintendo fan, have owned every system except Wii and Virtual Boy, but this game was about the dumbest thing ever. Way too simple and not enough fun. Button mashing and no strategy.

And there were way too many good games this decade to pick one. Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Red Dead Redemption, Timesplitters, God of War... Too many to remember! I hate polls like that! They need to break it down by genre.

    Mass Effect
God of war (take your pick)
    FFX
    Shadow of the Colossus
    Halo (take your pick)
CoD 2, 4 or Black Ops
Metal Gear Solid 2 or 3

That's just off the top of my head, all different genres.

SSBB isn't even the best FIGHTER.

    Sooooo ridiculous.

I don't see how you can say it has no strategy at all. Maybe it doesn't have as much as Melee or other fighters but I'd be hard pressed to say there isn't any strategy. There's a whole community over at Smashboardss.com that would disagree with you.

Best fighter is subjective. It may not be a traditional fighter but it's still considered one. By the way most of the games you said were listed in the bracket, the just didn't make it as far. FFX could still win. It should come down to SSBB and FFX.

It's just a poll and not much should be read into it. It's just the opinions of people that visit the site.
My favorite match so far has to be Pokemon Emerald beating GTA IV.

I don't mean to come down too hard on Smash Bros. I know there is SOME strategy involved but the game is also easily exploitable. I don't talk out my ass when it comes to fighting games. I used to compete in EVO tournaments and to this day still make custom joysticks for local tournaments. I'm just saying unlike a Street Fighter or Soul Caliber, there's a good chance that someone can just pick up a controller, mash some buttons, and beat a seasoned player.

As far as the poll, GameFaqs has some pretty goofy contests like the whole "Who Would Win in a Fight?" polls featuring characters like Jill Valentine vs Samus from Metroid. They are interesting, but I would hardly hang my hat on the outcomes!

I'm interested in joystick building. Back in the day, I used to work for an Amusement company and built at least 20 Tekken 3 cabnets. Where do you get your supplies from, and what do you do to interface with the console?

I've only ever really worked with the PS2 and XBOX 360 for building joysticks. If you want to start from scratch, you will need some soldering skills and some simple wire diagrams for the controller for the system you want to use it with. Then its just a matter of taking out the guts of the controller and wiring the buttons. But if you want a nice custom stick, I'd recommend just getting a good cheap fight stick and upgrading it yourself.

My last stick I made was for Marvel Vs Capcom 3 when it came out. I bought the basic "cheap" arcade stick: http://www.videogamecentral.com/prod...d-Edition.html

Then I go to Lizard Lick: http://www.lizardlick.com/ to get some nice Sanwa buttons and new joystick with an 8 way gate (the one it comes with is a lousy square). Then I use a template ( http://iplaywinner.com/joystick-art-templates/ ) and make a design and laminate it to make a nice custom stick with high quality parts.

You can buy a Tournament edition Stick for close to $200, or do it this way for better quality. Cost of the Arcade Fight Stick for your base is around $80 or less if you look around on Ebay or something, and the parts come to about $20 so you save about half. I also change out the gumball joystick for an American style bat because I prefer those.

Here is my last joystick I made with my favorite team from the game:

Gears of war 1&2 belong on this list as well

I agree Smash Bros Doesn't have as high a ceiling as other fighting games in terms of skill. With default settings anyone can beat anyone. However most serious players with items off on neutral stages. Under these conditions I think there's still enough gap in skill that you'd be hard pressed to find many average gamers that can beat tournament level players.

And yes it is JUST a POLL...

Modern Warfare 2, period. It's the best game I've ever played.

Even if it's just a poll, it's still a joke.

    My pick... Champions of Norrath
Yup. Still a fan of Shanahan, Kubiak, Cutler, Hillis, Scheffler and Tebow. Still despise McDouche. Deal with it.

People like what they like. Just because someone "likes" one game over another doesn't make them right.
