Welcome to the forums Beef! that's a beautiful craft, I don't know much about airplanes, so I can't contribute much to this thread. You do seem like a real nice person though.
They are awesome beef. I always felt safe on them as oppoised to the C-5. As a passeneger they are pretty uncomfortable. I was on a flight that was over 20 hours is, and its just not made for comfort. Unless you are in the crew quarters upstairs.

Thanks MO for the wicked Sig.
Clay link this pic of the gear. I haven't figured out how to do that on my iPad.

Holy Cow! those wheels are impressive
Do you want some more pictures, Nut?
Sorry I failed you Beef. Ive been impressed 3 times watching this aircraft. 1 In Yuma Az, watching them train in the mountain areas... So impressive how big, fast and agile they are. 2. At a airshow in Florida. I couldnt believe the rate they could climb at takeoff. And 3. I saw one get targeted one time by something, and it released its flares, about 100 feet off the ground. It was actually kind of frightning because it was at night, very close, and it lit the night up like you wouldnt believe, but its evasive maneuvers were pretty impressive as well. I dont remember if it was taking off or landing... I was in line for the chow tent at the time.
Thanks MO for the wicked Sig.
sounds like you guys are really into hard cyndrical structures
C-17s are awesome aircraft.
Beef, last time we talked, you had a major hard on for B-1s. What happened to that?
Here are a few photos of C-17s I've taken.
