Default The politics forum and the religion forum (P&R) now require you to opt-in

The politics forum and the religion forum (P&R) now require you to opt-in, before you will be able to view or post within them.

This has been done because many members do not want P&R threads to show up when they click "New Posts", so this provides a solution that works for all forum members.

In order to opt-in to the P&R forums (or any of the other opt in forums), do the following:

    1. Click on "User CP"
    2. Click on "Group Memberships" on the left side of the page under the Networking category.
    3. Find the Forum you want to join, and READ the description about the forum, and if you wish to join it, then click the circle next to "Join Group"
    4. Click the button labled "Join Group"
    5. Repeat steps three and four for any additional forums you wish to have access to (you can only opt-in to one forum at a time).

You can opt-out of any forum, by following the steps above, but instead clicking "leave group"

I still think this was completely and totally unnecessary. Honestly, this was done so "new posts" don't include political threads?
How hard is it to just NOT CLICK ON THE STORY and move on? Are people that weak minded as to be offended by seeing a title or a link that they can just scroll past in a microsecond?
These people are acting like the political threads were beamed into their living rooms while they were chained down with their eyelids taped open to read them.

The flip side of that is how hard is it to click "user Groups" then "Group Memberships" and then opt in? 10 seconds?

Many people come here because it is a football forum, they should have the right to not see posts about God or Obama if they so choose.

Your points being recognized, they still have to click on them to read the posts. So, simply enough, all they had to do was not click on the post and they wouldn't be "exposed to the evils of politics". Was this to remove all temptation to click and be offended?

You and I both KNOW that most thread starters in the politics forum create thread titles to be as inflamatory as possible to the 'other' side. People that don't want to participate in P&R shouldn't have to be exposed to the inflammatory posting.

Good move Tned. I myself will probably opt in as I do on occasion post in them but really, not hard at all to just click to opt in and never have to worry about it again.

If people don't want to have politcal subjects portrayed in front of them on a football forum then why should they...its a football forum.

Not a big deal to just opt in people, certainly better than NO political forum...yes?

The purpose of this section of the forums is to discuss forum issues. I am simply discussing them. I don't need permission from slick7 to do that. I opted in and therefore have no more to say on it. I appreciate the site and Tned. No need for anyone to take a simple statement personally. Is anyone?
