I figure it would be a good idea to let you all know how the tiebreaker works...
Normally the tiebreaker game will be the late Monday night game.. You then will have to post scores for both the Denver game for bonus points and the late Monday night game for the tiebreaker.
This week Denver was the late Monday night game so that score will be used for both the bonus points and tiebreaker..
The tiebreaker will only be used to see who finishes 1st for the week. if you tied for 2nd place on the week then you tied for 2nd place and so on.. I will discus with Tned to decide what we will use as the tiebreaker for 1st 2nd and 3rd on the season total's at the end of the year..
Here's how the tiebreaker will work if needed to determine the weekly winner.
This year there will be three tie breakers, but ALL on the latest Monday
night game (when there are two).
Tie Breaker 1
The first tie break will be who picks the MNF score CLOSEST to the
actual. We will use an example to explain this.
Example:
Denver 24
Oakland 17
Player A Picks:
Denver 21
Oakland 20
This player missed Denver by 3 and Oakland by 3, so their tiebreaker
difference is 6.
Player B Picks:
Denver 35
Oakland 7
This player missed Denver by 14 and Oakland by 13, so their tiebreaker
difference is 27.
Player A would win the tiebreaker, because their difference was lower
(6), meaning they were closer to the actual scores.
Tie Breaker 2:
If there is a tie using Tiebreaker 1, then Tiebreaker 2 will be used:
The second tie breaker will be margin of victory.
Example:
Denver 13
Oakland 10
Player A Picks:
Denver 17
Oakland 13
This player missed Denver by 4 and Oakland by 3, so their tiebreaker
Difference is 7, but they picked Denver to win by 4 .
Player B Picks:
Denver 17
Oakland 7
This player missed Denver by 4 and Oakland by 3, so their tiebreaker
Difference is 7, but they picked Denver to win by 10.
Player C picks:
Denver 10
Oakland 14
This player missed Denver by 3 and Oakland by 4, so their tiebreaker
Difference is 7, but they picked Oakland to win by 4.
So, Player’s A, B and C had a difference of 7, meaning they must move on
to the second tiebreaker. Since Player A's margin of victory was 4, it was the closest to the actual winning margin of the game (3) than Player B's margin of
10, Player C also picked a winning margin of 4 but he picked the wrong team, Therefore, Player A wins the second tie breaker and the week.
If both tied players moving onto the second tiebreaker picked the wrong team, the player with the lowest winning margin will win the week.
Example:
Denver 13
Oakland 10
Player A picked Oakland to win by 3
Player B picked Oakland to win by 2
Player B would win the week because he was the closest to Denver actually winning the game by 3
Tie Breaker 3:
The 3rd tie breaker will be the old total score tie breaker, just
like used to be the primary. So, here is another example.
Example:
Denver 12
Oakland 10
Player A Picks:
Denver 13
Oakland 9
This player missed Denver by 1 and Oakland by 1, so their tiebreaker
difference is 2, but total score is 22.
Player B Picks:
Denver 14
Oakland 10
This player missed Denver by 2 and Oakland by 0, so their tiebreaker
difference is 2, but total score is 24.
So, Player A and B both had a difference of 2, and they both picked Denver to win by 4 meaning they must move on
to the third tiebreaker. Since Player A's total score of 22 is closer
to the actual total of the game (also 22 in this case) than Player B's
24, Player A wins the third tie breaker and the week.
If the tie is not broken after the first three tie breakers, the prize is
split.
Rough 1st week! I've missed 5 so far....![]()
I think I missed 4, one was because I got my picks in late and missed the Giants game!!! I wonder who did the best?![]()
