    Default Rugby!!!!!!!!!

    Here it is folks!

    The Rugby thread.

Yes it is a sport. And if you don't believe me, I suggest you go and play a game before you slate it.

This year sees the Rugby World Cup being held in France, with the All Blacks (of New Zealand) once again the hot favs, but probably better prepared than they ever have been.

Current holders, England, have none of the flair, strength, or consistancy that saw them dominate the game 4 years ago.

Of the Northern Hemisphere teams, only the French seem to be producing any consistant form(which is saying a lot), and look to be the only true competition for the southern teams, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Argentina looks like they might give a few surprises, but Ireland, and Wales look to be beset by injuries, and lack of consistancy.

Anyway you look at it, this should be a fun few weeks, with some top class rugby on show!

I agree Kappie... IMO France is currently the best team of the Northern Hemisphere... But our last games against NZ disappointed me... Now... You know how impredictable we can be...

IMO, All Blacks are really the fav... I don't see us beating you, but on a game, everything can happens...
I just hope the boys will make a good WC...

Ireland could play better... would they?
Wales? I don't know where the grand slam team has gone... I would love to see UK's teams better to help us to improve against Southern teams...

With hindsight, the Grand Slam was possibly one of the worst things that could have happened to us.

Some players grew too big for their boots, losing Mike Ruddock as our coach was quite a blow I believe. I have no faith at all in our present coach, he doesn't seem to have the ability to motivate players IMO.

We came from nowhere and had one spectacular year, then just fell back into oblivion. Winning the Grand Slam, made some players think they were better than they were and they sat back and IMO haven't given as much committment as they should. Also in the following year, about half the Grand Slam squad went down with serious injuries.

Between that and the shenanigans involving management, the Wales squad still haven't recovered.

Expectations for the World Cup are low. If we make the quarter finals we will have done well. On our day we have the flair, speed and ability to give even the best of teams a good game, but are just too unsound technically and commit way too many basic errors.

Still, I'm really looking forward to this competition and hope for some really good play from the teams involved.

Lol, a conversion to Buddhism is required, or maybe lock up one or two of them in a monastery far enough from the seductive influence of Church

Jawsy and I don't have innocent rugby thoughts either.

But when you see a full game, you'll be hooked!

Oh, and don't let Frenchie show you Stade Francais calendars!
