    Default Godzilla Returns

    Godzilla Storming Back Into Cinemas

Hollywood studio bosses are unleashing Godzilla back into cinemas - a new film featuring the colossal Japanese monster is scheduled for release in 2012.

The giant whale-gorilla was first featured in Ishiro Honda's 1954 film Gojira and has since appeared in numerous "giant monster" Japanese films.

An American remake directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Matthew Broderick was released in 1998.

Now executives at Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros Pictures are breathing new life into the franchise by co-producing a new Godzilla film which will "pay respects to the original pic rather than follow up on Sony's 1998 Godzilla," according to Daily Variety.

A director has yet to be attached to the as-yet-untitled new film.

Chairman and CEO of Legendary Pictures Thomas Tull states: "Our plans are to produce the Godzilla that we, as fans, would want to see. We intend to do justice to those essential elements that have allowed the character to remain as pop-culturally relevant for as long as it has."

It has to be better than that bullshit from 1998 Matthew Broderick crap and closer to the original.

You must of missed the movies where G was the humans friend and he would be doing monster talk with other monsters while fighting baddies. Pretty funny stuff. Godzilla vs Mech-Godzilla with King Caesar is especially hilarious but great stuff.

I grew up on the Godzilla flicks. I don't know if it was just a New York thing, but they used to play a King Kong marathon on Thanksgiving and a Godzilla marathon the next day.

Sony destroyed the film. I'm surprised they didn't make another King Kong vs. Godzilla.
