Better than Claypool? That's a bold statement.

For starters, consider that Les rarely plays complicated parts (and sometimes doesn't play much at all) when singing, but Rob sings constantly with his playing, which is often ridiculous (playing a 13/8 bass melody). Rob might be the faster player. Les plays in a style using effects that best showcase his vision of what can be done with the instrument. I probably like listening to Les's playing more because the bass stands out so much more than Rob's does.

Rob is better in some ways, Les in others.

I freaking love Les Claypool. In a weird way his talent has been wasted by playing such a niche genre of music. Let me clarify that I don't personally think of him as wasted talent because I am a Primus fan from way back, but I think his musical talent has gone overlooked by the majority of people because of the genre he plays. Les probably doesn't care because he's doing what he wants to do, so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Jason Isbell's new album is called Nashville Sound and it's amazing. I highly recommend.
