I've been making my own songs recently and it makes me think about Prince and Petty. I admire them more now than I ever have. I've listened to very little of their entire discography on an album to album basis. I'm going to check this out.

This is a Petty song I hadn't heard of until a couple of months ago. Now it's one of my faves. The chorus goes unreasonably hard. The art of simplicity.

Listening to Petty's back catalog. Some great songs.

I'm glad that Wildflowers was the music critic's #1 Petty album, that makes me feel like I got it right. I listened to that one nonstop for a minute. At the time that fling surprised me, because I wasn't expecting to like it.

That is a great one. I hear Tom Petty influence in so damn many bands. I think Tom Petty is a top ten influential band. Seems like anyone making music in any genre from alt country to alt rock show at least some Petty influence.

    I hear it Summertime Blues

Or in Deer Tick's Tiny Fortunes

Sky Cries Mary - A Return to the Inner Experience. 90's psychedelic rock, definitely a different sound.
“When we do find that guy, we’ve got to have the continuity on the offensive side to where we can train him and develop him and get him there. This is our fourth offense in probably three or four years. Quarterbacks need to be developed. You don’t find one ready-made. We got to have a solid system in place for when we do go after whatever guy it may be, a young guy or a trade or whatnot.”
