Just stumbled upon this YT channel. Just a guy listening to random ass songs for the first time. My new favorite thing.

Thinking about some cheesy 80s songs with weird awkward stories and I realize I liked my life-like-weeds trailer trash childhood.
Lori Ann Blake, if you are still alive and didn't get knocked up by one of your brothers or other male relatives or one of the neighborhood kids, if you made it out there in the big wide world, let me return 5th-grade-you the favor of an eye-lock lip sync of this eternal classic...
...and maybe 6th-grade-you can stand there, intimidated and shocked, but electric in every fiber of your being...
ok, time for bed

I say this knowing full well that Shel Silverstein was a songwriter, but John Prine was to songwriting what Shel Silverstein was to poetry.
At first glance it's simple and maybe even silly, but the longer you ponder it the more profound it becomes. It was music written for all of us. There was absolutely no pretense. No fakery. Not a single drop of elitism. He was pure Americana and Americana at it's absolute finest.
I want a John Prine song played at my funeral.
