It was a weird reaction. When I first heard it the familiar 'yacht rock' eye roll sensation washed over me. Then, because it had been a long time since I heard it, I paid way more attention than I expected and it looped in my head for a bit. It wasn't bad.

Then I looked up the story behind the song and that kind of ruined it for me. I thought maybe it was a song about the singer coming out of the closet or something and the pathos of father/son estrangement, but nah. Just some random drunken bullshit. Although dude had serious alcohol issues which he fixed shortly after this time frame.

its a bit of ABM but its more in lines with post black metal or as some would call it shoegaze. Deafheaven is a lot like them as well.
